Is there a way one can prevent them all together, before one begins getting them...?
Was just curious!

This is an interesting one and I will be very keen to see if someone can respond to it.....I have wondered about this before because my Gran used to suffer from them badly and my wife has developed one during pregnancy which has remained. Would also like to know why women are more prone to vericose veins than men are...or at least that is the perception.

I HAVE ONE ON INSIDE RIGHT LEG JUST AS THE CALF EXPANDS BELOW THE KNEECAP..
Whoops, Also a couple places higher on outer thigh that are just darkened veins but they look like broken veins and they do not bulge, never have...? I wonder if they are considered varicose veins?

This is a bit of a grey area for me....not sure if they have to bulge to be considered varicose veins....my son 3 year old son calls them very close veins
. I believe that there is some sort of surgical procedure that can remove them if they are becoming painful but I not sure how else one cold treat them. My wife's one starts to throb and pain after standing up for a while and it causes a throbbing pain. I tried to simulate the feeling by squeezing my wrist and holding it for a minute or two and the veins in my hand stand out a lot and do begin to throb and become painful so i am wondering if it does not have something to do with constricted supply or some pressure on the veins from muscles or joints or something.

Thats a good point. interesting..I like that you at least tried to simulate it.
The ones I do have do not hurt per say but they look terrible...I hope someone answers soon.

Hey Karen W!!! Howzit going? This topic got me thinking a bit...not always a good thing
. Basically, from what I can see is that a varicose vein is simply a vein that occurs very close to the surface and is dilated for whatever reason....isn't that pretty much the same as a pile except that it can not escape the confines of the skin?? Would be keen to see if Pile cream has any effect in getting the veins to become less visible.....lucky for me I do not suffer from either so we will need to find a guinea pig to check it out over 2 weeks or so.

LOL..LOL.. I have some tucks but I only had a hemorrhoid after giving birth then one time again after the second birth and none after the third.lol I have the pads and cream but how would that work with the skin covering it as a hemorrhoid is uncovered and raw from hanging outside of the body...what good would the creme do on outside of skin?

I have been wondering and thinking about this a lot since we still
have received no answer yet.
I am wondering if they are caused by High Blood pressure and thin
arterial walls expanding due to higher blood pressure..
The doctors at Stanford tried to explain to me That I am
susceptible to aneurysms, because of my arteries being thiner in
places, and I may still be misunderstanding this,.... but I wonder
if, like an aneurysm, a varicose vein may be like a smaller vein in
your body that may be similar to my aorta wall, and be thinner in
that area and thus the fluxuations of blood through that
particularly thin area of the vein may cause the distention of the
vein in that area..?
When My left ventricle was not working
properly and unable to handle the large amount of blood output
when my blood pressure rose, so it began causing the aortic
regurgitation a leaking at the aortic valve which in turn pooled
up in the valve long enough for the blood to coagulate, and it
threw a blood clot, when the pressure was up and the heart pumped,
thus spitting the coagulated clots out, and sent them them
traveling, causing my stroke problem. I am assuming
to the brain,so Now we are trying to keep the pressure down to
ease up the stress at the valve which will be replaced with
several others eventually. I good colesterol, no problem, but he
said that was where the blood clots were coming from and thus the
extra stress in the aorta where The aortic wall is so thin and has
caused both descending and ascending aneurysms...
So I want to know if the varicose vein is similar in its formation
as my aneurysms and if so do they go in and remove portions of the
varicose veins or just dye them... The buldge is definitely
unattractive and my circulation in that particular leg is really
bad.. so is it from some sort of blockage or pressure or what..?
Is that causing a back up of blood to be trapped in that vein
area or what?
Could someone please explain this better as I think I'm not
understanding properly.. and I need to understand better.
The varicose vein seems to be in smaller veins and not arteries,
Is that the difference between the aneurysms and a varicose vein?

Hey KarenW, nothing ventured, nothing gained and I am pretty sure that the cream might have and effect....(There's a definite statement if there ever was one
Due to the nature of skin, I guess it would work the same way as rubbing arnica or any other cream on your skin. Sorry to hear that you have had a few serious health concerns [
]. Sometimes this forum is like that...when you really want to know something and are excited to post a question to get a response.no one else seems to be as interested as you are...but then I guess being a moderator you are well aware of that. One of the Brainiacs will hopefully make a contribution shortly.

Hey KarenW, I have just noticed that there is a huge debate with lots of input regarding vericose veins slightly lower on the same forum page which could offer some info on this.
