I live in Racine, Wisconsin.  That's just a bit south of Milwaukee, right on Lake Michigan.  We live about 2 miles from the lake.

Yes, unfortunately, one of the (many) less attractive things about living in a city or large town (Racine is about 200,000 people) is the way the constant light from street lamps, business, etc. make the sky so bright at night that it is difficult to see the stars.  [:(]  I have a wonderful telescope my husband got for me several years ago when we lived further out from town.  These days, it mostly gathers dust.  Very sad.  [V]

I also remember the drive-ins from childhood.  You're lucky that there are any left by you.  I don't know of a single one still open anywhere.  We also had an old station wagon.  My mom would dress my 2 brothers and myself in our PJ's and bundle us into the back with our pillows and blankets.  Then she'd make a big shopping-bag full of popcorn (buying it at the theatre was just TOO expensive!  [:0])  We only went a few times each summer, but it was always a real treat.  At the time, kids under 12 got in free.  My dad used to joke that when we turned twelve, he was going to quit taking us.  Oddly enough, the year I turned 12 we moved away from that area to a place where there weren't any drive-ins.  I never went to the drive-in with my parents again after that.

Funny how those memories stay with you.  Our theatres usually showed two movies (I was usually asleep for the second one!)  I remember everyone honking at dusk to get the picture going.

Our weather has changed, too, since I was a kid.  Our winters are a lot milder than they used to be.  I have pictures of our house at Christmas with snow heaped all around.  Now, when it snows before January, it usually melts again.  We usually get a little snow in November and December, but nothing substantial.  You'd think that the milder winter would mean an earlier spring, but it doesn't seem to work that way.  Or maybe it's just that I'm getting older and I WANT spring earlier!!

What pills does the doctor have you on?  They don't sound too good.  I just heard an ad about some new prescription sleep-aid that isn't habit-forming and isn't supposed to make you feel groggy all the time, like you seem to be feeling.  Wish I could remember what they were called, but your doctor should know about them.

Hey Wisconsin ehh, I have a friend from there.. Sounds like my childhood memeories.

I am on some strong antibiotics , water pills for reduction of fluid, and my regular meds, thyroid blood pressure. Doc said as soon as I take this last pill, things should start working good. The anti biotic is super strong, cant remember what it is called but only had to take 5 or 6 of them. he said they are powerfull. I think the water and trouble with heart makes you pretty tired! He is a good doctor so I know he is watching out for me. I was born with heart problems so I know the routine. Just wish it would give me more time in between trouble. Oh well. I do not take sleeping aides as They make trouble with and in combination to my other meds. and my head.... Prefer normal sleep when it happens. Stress makes it worse so I am trying to destress.

Hi Karen - You poor little chick!  Health problems, particularly heart troubles, can really wear you out.  [xx(]  You need MORE rest, not LESS!!  I'm glad you have confidence in your doctor.  Doctors are not generally my favorite people (too many bad experiences with them.)  If you have one you trust, hang on to him!

Andrea - Thanks for the info about Yahoo 360.  I have set up my ID (The Jode,) but that's about all.  Maybe I'll get a chance to do more over the weekend.  I'll be sure to look yours up.  [:)]

Anybody else have a Yahoo 360 account?  I'd love to check them out.

I love this forum except for one thing:  SO MANY THREADS!!  [:0]  I can't keep up!  I always feel like I'm missing something important.  Maybe if I created a database identifying all the threads; and the users; and the posting dates; and whether I've read them...  Do you think I'm obsessively organized?  [:I] Hmmmmmm.....

Yes I do, I don't think I could do it, I am rather unorganised: I try I just have too much junk!! 3 or 4 generations of Junk to be exact, as I was entrusted with the family fortune.... consists of three or four generations of junk collecting memorabila and babby booties from late 18 hundreds, things like that... makes it hard to throw away as it is certainly family history. I have my grandmas old love letters to my Grandpa and evry post card she ever recieved. I have mables dice, which I collect and John wayne stuff I loved his goofy old movies.... One elvis presly signed school senior album and tons of other stuff... You would not believe the junk... I have been sorting through 5 barns full of this stuff for the last 13 years and I still have only made a dent in it!! I have cleared two of the five and managed to keep only the important things. Something I can't have someone else do as it is too personal and I need to make sure and keep the important things for the family!

Wow, Karen, I am soooooo jealous of all your family memorabilia.  Through a couple of "upsets," most of our family heirlooms have gone by the wayside.  Of course, my family is quite small to begin with.  Both my mom and my dad were only-children, so there's no aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.  I am fortunate, however, because I have a foster aunt & uncle, and a couple of second cousins that I'm very close too.

I have to admit, I'm the "Queen of Organization."  I organize EVERYTHING (which is probably why I'm an accountant.)  I do hop in and out of these threads throughout the day.  My job has sporatic "dead-spots," so I fill in the gaps by checking out the forum.

When I first read Karen's last post, I saw "SWEATSHIRTS" instead of "sweethearts," and thought, what a great idea!  We should all get Naked Scientist Forum sweatshirts and wear them everywhere.  It would promote comfort, camaraderie, and totally confuse the neighbors!  [;)]

Karen - LOVE YOU TOO BABE!!

Jody - I'm jealous of you.  I wish I were organized.  Never have been.  I hate that about me, but just cant seem to change it.  Unfortunately my children inherited this from me.  Wish they taught it in school.

OOps! I goofed and made this a new topic... Here's the text...
Hi all,

It's been a while since I have been here. I started using ZC in about April and it was working! I think I lost like 7 lbs in 2 weeks.  But, why did I stop?  What is with that self sabbotage?  Have any of you experienced that before?  So, this summer I gained even more back.  It is so depressing. I went to get my hair cut today and sat in front of that big all telling mirror and about died.  I just can't stand to look at myself.

So, tomorrow I am pulling my bottle of ZC out of the refrigerator and getting busy.  Congrats to all of you who are losing.  Karen, I am amazed! 100 lbs! THat is just OUTSTANDING!!!  I know you have done this before, but please share your secrets.  WHat are you doing besides ZC?  Are you dieting or exercising?  Counting points or calories or just watching what you eat?  I welcome anyone elses ZC tips as well!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Welcome back... and I hope you do well. I am mostly these days just doing portion control. Not eating more then my two fists worth of food, unless it is salad. I eat as much of that as I like. I do not use diet foods as I hate them pretty much!  unless they are good ones. Just because its diet doesn't mean it tastes bad...LOL so not on purpose anyway.. I am on my feet 5 days aweek mostly 8 or so hours a day. I take little sits but am a preschool teacher so not much time for sitting. Other then that I am on the computer alot on the forum. My excercise is walking during the day, We have a nice cise site so I just try to keep moving. This last week has brought me some health problems ao I have been off for the week. Had to be off my feet and have them raised alot!  I have done really no other exercise. I do climb a flight of stairs 5 days a week, about 8 times a day. but thats it, aside from normal activities shopping which I do not do much and house work. I take care of the house behind my family, so I guess that counts too! Good luck to you LeeLee and I hope you do well! Thanks for the compliments . You can email me if you have further questions..

Erm....excuse moi Karen...let me remind you about the word "diet" What word do you see inside of it minus one letter???  Ick!  That is why I don't drink diet coke, (in fact, I read an article about how harmful diet drinks are...and the effects on the brain it has...Geez, I wish I had it again....?)

Yeperoo, we hardly buy canned foods, some sauces when we feel lazy but I like to make them from scratch when possible! Although usually food storage is mostly canned!
