Is there a need for Valence Bond theory in the face of Molecular Orbital Theory?

For one thing i found out that the molecular orbital theory will not be able to explain complex Organic Reactions. And how do you find out about the structure of methane, ethene, and other organic molecules?

Someone please solve this for me...
