How does generation time affect development?
« on: 28/06/2010 17:30:02 »
pmailkeey asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi Chris,

"Relative development"

Regarding animal development and taking the human animal as an example...

Family A reproduce/create a new generation every 16 years.

Family B reproduce/create a new generation every 32 years.

Which family develops the faster ?

Things to bear in mind:

Reproducing at 16 year intervals allows for a quicker change.

Reproducing at 32 year intervals allows the parents to have
experienced more 'life' and hence have babies more affected by the
longer parental life.

Mike. (Naked as often as I can get away with it.)

What do you think?
