The Fifth Dimension?

I believe there is a fifth dimension, even 12 or 14. Or at least there were. But what became of them? And where are they? Is the space, volume of the universe, even beyond the reach of matter and light, infinite?
Could the sun and earth pass through a patch of space with five dimensions?
Beyond the reach of the universe, or another concept of place, more extreme than this, is there another universe or space with more dimensions?

I think M theory speaks of 11 dimensions, but rolled up at very small scales. If is so then a 'dimension' seems to be represented two ways. One way as something infinite as the dimensions we have macroscopically, but also as a function of 'size' or 'scale'.
Which is weird, possibly?
