Englands world cup hopes gone.
« on: 30/04/2006 01:32:18 »
What a day. It started so well my football team Chelsea beat or should I say destroyed Manchester united 3:0 at Stamford Bridge and in the process won the premiership title for the second year running.  WELL DONE LADS

All did not go well however as during the game Wayne  rooney injured the foot of Chelsea's and England's number one central defender John Terry, his injury required ten stitches and has ruled him out of the next two games but more importantly could harm his form and England's chances  in the up and coming world cup finals in six weeks.

Then if that wasn't bad enough Michael Owen England's number two striker in his first game back since he broke a metatarsal bone in his foot was pulled off after only 20 minutes due to him injuring the same foot  putting him out for another three weeks and will probably now not take part in the world cup.

Then as if England's world cup squad wasn't receiving enough bad luck and possibly in response to Rooney injuring the foot of his England team mate John terry  Karma took over and in an act of over the top retribution Wayne Rooney England's number one and only surviving first choice striker fell over and fractured his fourth metatarsal bone in his foot and will be out for six week probably ruling him also out of the world cup.

Things are now not looking good for England hopes; we were second favourites to lift the cup, know we will be lucky to get past the first match.

Any more bad luck and we wouldnt even stand a chance playing against the USA[:)]

Get better soon lads, England needs you

Worry ye not.

It should be fixed in six weeks which gives England time to get through an easy group stage then bring in Rooney and Owen for the knockout bit. As long as they can get their fitness level up enough.

Sadly most of the best strikers in the English league are foreigners so the choice of replacements is limited.

I love the world cup, can't wait for it to get going. Three cup finals to enjoy until then.

Have you ever been to a world cup?  It is most fascinating.  I went 2 days straight, feigned sickness at work so I could go...Loved it!

Hadrian,

You can still get tickets to the SuperBowl if you really want to make the trip. Just Google NFL tickets.

I am betting on the Cowboys.

The superbowl.
Isnt that where you play the game which you americans for some strange reason call football.

Also I know you americans like to follow us brits and copy everything we do, and yes i can understand that,i would probably do the same in your position but if you really want to play rugby then do as us MEN do in the UK and get rid of all that protection.

you dont want to be remembered as a bunch of OLD softies do ya.[;)][:D]

Actually, We do. All I need to do is go to the park here on a Saturday to watch Rugby. And then tere is the bumper sticker - IT TAKES LEATHER BALLS TO PLAY RUGBY.

I think that rugby is safer than American football. The padding allows for hearder hits and far more damage to the human body. A single tackel unleashes the force of a severe auto accident on the person hit. It also causes the brain to shake inside the skull to the same extent. It takes insanity to play football, Am. style.

perhaps the USA just wants to be different from England?

...you guys aren't still sore from the revolution, are you?[:p]

what I want to know is where we came up for soccer, which used to be called football... politics, who needs them [;)]

Hats off to the British
they invented probably the best ball game on the planet: Rugby
and they gave to us with the pleasure of beating the English at it too! (in there back garden to boot) it doesn’t get any better.

Hi Michael, well today's the day it begins. Yeah i agree we could do it without him, but i just can't see anybody fulfiling his role. I mean he does track back to help out, breaks the defence open, and can take it past people. I have respect for Crouch and Walcott i just can't seeing them being a threat. Lol not to bothered you're a chelsea fan, maybe in August i will be, Spurs gonna try and beat ya for first time in like 30 years! Chris, P.s. in one word how do you think the nation see Wayne Rooney? anyone can reply to that one!
