How fast does a heart decompose?
« on: 03/11/2003 14:46:38 »
This is probably going to sound like a silly question but I really need an answer. At what rate does the heart decompose? Does it decompose the same as any other organ or due to the high muscle fiber content does it decompose somewhat more slowly than other organs of the body? Does it dry up and turn to ash or does it become shriveled and hardened...much like a raisin?

Welcome to the forum, rumourz4u.

I think you just answered my question as to what happened to my ex-wife and why she is what she is. Thanks.
Sorry I can't answer that. I just like being a smart-ass. These people on here are real smart. I'm sure you'll find an answer.

Good luck.

Ron, what was the URL of that body decomosition farm you refered to when we were talking about Fred and Rose West?

Pretty greusome sounding.  I wonder how they figured out that one body was a confederate soldier?  Probably some sort of isotope decay for bones that old.

I find it amazing that flesh was still on that corpse. It boggles the mind. If I leave a pork chop on the counter too long it goes really bad. How can flesh stay intact for over a hundred years?

They found a man in the Alps that was over 5000 years old and still had most of his flesh.  Of course he was frozen in a glacier.  I heard yesterday that he died of an arrow wound and had several other cuts and stabs on him.  He also had blood (someone else's) on his knife!  I hope he got the guy!
