Could dog's disgusting eating practices allow them to eat manky meat?
« on: 13/01/2013 18:44:32 »
I was thinking about how dogs will eat a whole bunch of stuff, even if it's kind of manky... puke and later re-eat the vomit. I've known multiple dogs that would do that. I wonder if the strategy is to get the potential food mixed up with stomach acids without keeping the dog exposed to toxins. Then, after the chemistry has worked for a while, the dog might be able to more safely eat it?

Just a speculation.

I think it probably makes good digestive practice, bacterially speaking.  Just as they eat faeces when they have stomach upsets.

See here:

Its not about dogs specifically but mentions why they eat faeces.
