Hey. I am new to this site. I would like to know if you could help me identify my rock. I found it near a river. Its mate black, with some red on it. It has some bubbles. It looks kind like scoria, but its attracted to magnets. HELP ME PLEASE

It looks like it might be a meteorite. And the fact that it appears to be magnetic also supports this notion.

I suspect you are probably right about that RD. After taking a second, it appears to resemble iron slag more that a meteorite.

ZekemanGerb, is this stone *really heavy* for its size, or is it kinda regular weight or maybe a bit light?

My impression of iron meteorites is that they are shiny and heavy. Is this typically the case?

That is slag. Looks like a coal clinker too, so it might be that.

Gelb -where did you find it? Which river & where?   Ok, people prepare to scream - I have seen some volcanics with a texture such as this. it <u>could easily</U> be a  basaltic scoria. They  are not rare.
