We could always have a debate about debates, and if that gets boring then we could have a debate about debating debates that get boring, surely that could keep us entertained for a while  [;)]

So you want to start a debate about debating - about the styles of debating; the topics that can be debated; the objectives of of a debate; the reason people choose, or do not choose, to debate.  Take your pick [:P]

So - then what are your views on the matter:

  • What may be debated?
  • What are the objectives of a debate?
  • Why do people choose, or choose not, to debate?

If you're happy with them all, then the ball is in your court.[:P]

A largely debated topic.  Some people largely support it in order to save lives.  Others are entirely against it because it involves using embryos, and people argue that they are wasted lives.  Who supports this? Im not entirely sure that I do...

Stem Cell research is not just isolated to embryo stem cells am I incorrect! I know that is the best source as they replicate themselves, but I also know their have been more research done using your nasal Stem cells as they are the only ones in the adult body that replicate themselves, or renew themselves so there is more then embryo stem cells to weigh in here is there not? I am not debating, but asking as my own curiosty wonders about this myself.. I think I am kind of for it but not real stable on this yet! Something I am still weighing right now! Why indeed that I wish to follow along and perhaps learn some more!

Yes you are right Karen. I think embryonic stem cells are best as they haven't differentiated at all. Most people object to stem cell research because of their ignorant religious beliefs (sorry I have a chip on my shoulder about religion). Something shouldn't be band or hindered just because of some peoples beliefs.

On a related subject when would you guys call an impregnation, a life?

I believe life begins at fertilization. When that egg begins to grow. I still am on the fence but leaning toward stem cell research as it has so many possibilities for healing and saving lives as I think it may be a good thing. Yes I understand the implications pertaining to a fetus, but their in lies my quandries.. about finding out more!
