Hybrids
« on: 16/11/2006 07:44:33 »
Neanderthal human hybrids are much in the news, is there any evidence for Chimpanzee or Bonobo human hybrids ancient or modern?.
There are considerable ethical problems of course but has any research been published on the subject

some theorys state that humans absorbed the neanderthal race early in their history.  Im not sure that this has merit, but I think we are all neanderthan human hybrids.

As for human/chimp hybrids, their dna structure is not similar enough to make a working... hybrid, let alone one which can reproduce.

I believe other great apes have one more chomosome pair than humans have, making natural hybridisation very unlikely (although modern genetic engineering techniques could no doubt overcome some of those limitations).
