I am not able to reply to this question in the way requested because it is a complex and nuanced topic that does not reduce to a two word phrase. The acts of Ossama Bin Laden's network of fanatics has been profoundly hurtful to recent efforts to foster international progress. George Bush's response has been in some ways clumsy & overreactive and has to some extent played into the hands of those same extremist folk who look back with nostalgia to the year 800.

"War on terror" is a phrase I do not use, as it is simply a silly formulation that oversimplifies the real world.

In the year 2100 this episode will be looked at as a very unfortunate detour from the vital struggle for the human race to achieve sustainability in energy, agriculture, population, and climate regulation. As a result of the instigation of a couple dozen well trained and highly motivated islamic wackos, we are in danger of wasting our last chance to avoid several serious disasters waiting for us at the end of this century.
