Now that you mention it, it does kind of look like a cappuccino or something similar... Whats all those particles on the surface? Looks like fine bits of chocolate to me.

BUT - it is edible (in the real sense of food).

No, it is not unique to Germany.

It is known in many European countries, and I'm sure that there are also equivalents in both Eastern and American gastronomy.
