The red/orange/yellow cells are neurons.

An Alternative Interpretation:

After checking the literature to confirm the possibility, I have concluded that these are probably taste cells.

I have not been sleeping more than 4 or 5 hours all week so I took an Ambien (zolpidem) to sleep. I do NOT normally stay upright after taking a pill. I apologize for the scene I made.

I had a hunch and found this - Looks identical

This is also could very well be olfactory cells but the cells on the other side make it more likely that it is taste, not smell.
