looks as if a cover is missing that sits over that bolt.. lookes as if the end is threaded..

The inside of a gage of some kind? HMMMMMM That shape is interesting.. like one of those musical timer things, I can't recall what they call them..

Hmmm..it is difficult to photograph and the perspective is not quite right..but let me say to you that each edge is only 15 mm in length (1.5 cm) so it is small !!........
