one more thing, another book i ordered from the library arrived yesterday (its great living opposite a library!)
called Testosterone for Life - by Abraham Morgentaler & Harvard medical School

obviously havent read it all yet, but its a very "for" TRT book, saying the links with TRT and cancer are completely untrue, and they say if anything there's more risk living with low testosterone. It seems to go into detail about the evidence as it stands now.

They seem all for TRT!

I recommend the book (+ it goes without saying to get opinions etc from your own GP).

db, nice to hear it confirmed again that the TRT-cancer scare was just that!

You also reminded me above why I risked TRT: osteoparosis can more easily creep in if one stays at low T-levels without treatment.

Thanks for that post.

I still feel I have diabetes because of sensativities to carbs, despite being tested twice.

Yesterday I purchased an OTC blood glucose moniter to see for myself.  The moniter confirmed what the doctors advised that I don't have diabetes.  This is fustrating.

Limejuice, how about getting a 2nd opinion from an endo specializing in diabetes? My university medical research unit does that. If you PM me, I'll give you their #, perhaps they can recommend something or someone.

i have switched from boxerbriefs to lose fitting boxers, and have not had an ne in a long time.  i believe it is due to thermoregulation of testicles, although this observation is purely anecdotal. a short stretch of luck may have something to do with it also.

I felt the same.  The sensitivity was there and everything.  I think the belief in having diabetes is just a symptom of this disease, all of the sensitivities and stuff.

Something of concern:

There are people post comments on Girlwind's POIS Youtube video about not receiving a confirmation e-mail from the Naked Science forum, and thus not being able to register and share their experiences/ask questions/converse.

Thanks, Dean! I'll pass this along to the right people.

Dean, I asked, "Can something be done?"

Here's the reply:

"Yes if they are using hotmail, who are the fussiest people to be able to send mail to in the world... we are working on it, and there is a comment on the sign up page. If they have problems they can email chris@thenakedscientists.com with their username and we will activate them manually."

I am posting here an updated and more instructional method for preventing nocturnal emissions

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
4 Main Parts of Nocturnal Orgasm Prevention Method

1) lucid dreaming- the method of controlling one's dreams by becoming "conscious" during the dream state.

>>> Method for training self in lucid dreaming: slowly whisper (at least 20 times) before sleep, any phrase similar to "i will take control of my dreams tonight". Do this night after night. Eventually, you will come to realization during a dream that you are in fact dreaming. That realization will enable you to take "conscious" control of what occurs in the dream.

2) muscle relaxer Flexeril (generic version is called Cyclobenzaprine) - only 2.5mgs is needed for an average sized adult. This is taken just before sleep, causing desensitization, which assists in preventing a nocturnal emission. For an average healthy male, this amount may be taken every night, since such a low dosage will generally not have a negative impact on the liver. HOWEVER, always consult your doctor before starting ANY regular prescription drug regimen.

3) pubococcygeus muscle (controls urine flow and contracts during orgasm). When contracted with enough force, this muscle can immediately stop an orgasm after it has begun. You must hold the contraction for at least 30 seconds if possible. Although a small amount of fluid will be released, and a small amount of the orgasmic "feeling" will be felt, generally you will only suffer 1/4 of the amount of POIS symptoms you suffer from a full orgasm.

You can strengthen this muscle by stopping the flow of your urine (contracting the muscle) several times while going to the bathroom.

4) subliminal reinforcement - Whisper to yourself a message such as "I will not dream about sex tonight" several times before you go to sleep. Doing this every night aids in directing your dreams away from themes that may cause a nocturnal emission.

Putting the 4 parts together (this is what I do):

1) every night I take 2.5mgs of Flexeril just before going to sleep

2) i whisper to myself 10 times "i will not dream about sex tonight and i will not have an orgasm during sleep tonight"

3) during the night, if a dream becomes sexual, i attempt to take control of the dream and turn it away from sexual themes.

4) however, if this fails, and while dreaming I begin to feel the surge of an orgasm, BECAUSE OF THE ABILITY TO LUCID DREAM I wake myself up instantly, and contract the pubococcygeus muscle as hard as possible for 30 secs.

With time and practice a person can go virtually 100% free of orgasm for as long as they wish.

I'm testing body temperature, glycemia and blood pressure during Pois and I'm changing diet (carbs, some supplement like harpagophytum).

Interesting. And here's some more info about harpagophytum (aka "Devil's Claw):
http://www.pdrhealth.com/drugs/altmed/altmed-mono.aspx?contentFileName=ame0060.xml&contentName=Devil%27s+Claw&contentId=223

Again, I appreciate that - thanks to this forum - I'm now keenly aware of my high blood pressure during POIS!

I'm very careful now about exercising in very early POIS, for example, which my cardiac rehab team confirms.

Since my recent major open-heart surgery, this information about BP-and-POIS might have saved my life, so thank you all, especially daveman and B_Jim!

I've had two more NEs over the last few weeks and still good (no symptoms). I have continued taking bilberry supplements, along with eating sweet potatoes at supper and the yogurt/berries. I have also been eating trout or salmon the day after an NE, going on the inflammation theory. Something is working. My insomnia is still present, but I am taking steps in my career to try to minimize stress levels, hopefully it helps.

Yes this is similar to Monroe's technique.

the link that Demo included www.lucidity.com is a very good one. There's lots of information there about "how to".

Another aspect important there, and also mentioned in the link above is the method to maintain the lucidity. What often happens is that as soon as you realize that you are starting to control the dream, you become too conscient and tend to wake up. lucidity.com shows methods for strengthening the lucidity and control within the dream.

Of course if you  do learn to control the "whatchamacallit" muscle (don't have that part of the post in front of me right now), then waking up won't matter, you'll probably want to wake up to control the muscle anyways. However if you can't still control the muscle, the probability is that within the lucid dream YOU CAN

My first test 12 hours after orgasm seems to invalidate this theory ! I  controled my blood pressure and temperature hourly. (double test for each arm)

I start BP test : 140/70 (normal, high limit) before orgasm.
BP decreased to 120/70 (good BP) after orgasm and keep normal values after.

Although my tests are still fairly preliminary and my POIS symptoms are fairly light, what I have been finding, outide of potential rarities, that the BP starts going up on the third to fifth days. Still not extreme, like 140 or 145 over 60.

I'll want to control several more sessions, and also see what it's like when the symptoms are much worse. When I had my recent severe POIS attack, the BP skyrocketed and responded very poorly to control medicine.

Strangly in any case, even though the BP may be relatively stable, I feel as though it's high. POIS aggravates the same areas as BP (not to mention several more).

Last week my flu-like symptoms were clearly stronger. I have eaten very few carbs compared to last week (and take Vitamin C, B-complex vitmain, magnesium but I think the real parameter is carbs).

How do these flu-like symptoms compare in time to the B-complex consumption.
My worst experience in several months came two days after beginning vitamin complex.
