Many thanks to Vandemolen for suggesting a POIS research-assistance request to Paul Musarella, Director of the above named Dutch institution. They specialize in studying hormones.

Vandemolen is nearby, hopefully he will be available if localized follow-up is needed.

I just wrote to him now, Friday, August 13, at 8:30 AM PST.

Thanks again!

Does anyone had a bloodtest for dopamin and serotonin?

Did you get your results today?

I'll show you mine if you show me yours :P

Jokes aside, I've had a very interesting strange and frustrating time at my visit to the endocrinologist, I'll update here later on, not slept for atleast two day, need some sleep ZzZzZzZzZzZZzzzzz...

Green, when you awake, we're looking forward to your update! Thanks again.

What I really don't like about The Spoof site is how there are bits of false information very much integrated with bits of true information.

Very important consideration, CP. Thanks again!

They examine the blood in a lab in the States. But it's a commercial clinic. Let us wait until he answers before we take further steps. Thanks for sending the email!

Here is the update about with my recent follow up appointment with the consultant Endocrinologist, a referral was made to look into the cause of the low Testosterone and get a blood profile evaluated to explain the fatigue and flu like state post ejaculation/orgasm.

The follow up appointment was with a junior endo this time round, but it soon became apparent he had liaised with the head Doc and a probable course of action had already been drafted.

These are my results;

LH        2.0   U/L
FSH        9.6   U/L     ~ 1.x – 10
Cortisol     234        Unkown
TTotal        215   ng/dl   270-850
Prolactin     91   unkown   50-450
SHBG         15   nmol/L   15-45

After yesterday’s appointment I've come out pretty satisfied at the conclusion, a lengthy discussion took place and it appears the health problem is being taken seriously.

The sequence of events are now a blur, the build up to the appointment was mentally taxing as getting my health in check and POIS under control, is priority #1. After leaving I just felt a massive sense of elation and became numb.

Making sure to take both POIS papers to the appointment and the response by Dr Waldinger, they were introduced at the appropriate time in the discussion. I’ve been told the POIS papers will be looked into thoroughly by the doctor and possibly his head, whatever the outcome of that is… The papers are in papers are in the hands of people who are in an acclaimed position to make a difference, with both my treatment for this and possibly the wider community of POIS suffers. My hope is that a possible liaison can take place within the medical community here with the healthcare bodies of pre existing POIS suffers with a common goal in mind to either find the true etiology or offer a substitute treatment based on pre existing results, I will grill and push for this to become a reality.

Initially I was rather upset testosterone treatment for me had already been rejected as the SHBG value is right at the bottom of the range, meaning the Bioavailable testosterone will fall into normal limits and I’m being told it’s that’s what counts more significantly that total Testosterone. It doesn’t help when the results are cartoonish, they don’t appear to be similar to anything I’ve seen on the internet so at present I’m going to have to heed the advice in good stead, research the hell out of stuff and then formulate my opinion on this whole matter and get my views across for the follow up appointment as I'm clearly exhibiting the signs of low testosterone, with my body somatotype etc... It's my life, I’m suffering from this and given the amount of time and resources I’ve already spent trying to chase this up and cure it I don’t think I’m going to get anywhere in life without the appropriate medical intervention.

Good news on the whole, hope everyone else is doing well.

green, my FSH and LH were the exact opposite as yours, LH was at the top of the range and my FSH was at the bottom of the range.

I am going to ask my familydoctor for a 4 weeks trial of of Thyrax. A friend of my, who is a doctor, said that he gave Thyrax also to patienst who don't have too low Ts4. Only a bit low. But they have symptoms of too low Ts4, like fatigue, problems with joints and muscles. And that is the case with me: my Ts4 is 11. Not too low, but on the low side. And this is been so the whole year (3 bloodtests). Maybe this will help me also a bit against POIS. I will keep you posted.

Has anyone tried the pituatary blood test?  Since ejaculation is somehow connected to the pituatary, that it may be what is causing pois.

I went to the pharmacy inquiring about progesterone cream, and they said, "well THIS is like progesterone in that it gets converted into it when it's ingested," and they showed me a container of Plan B emergency contraceptive for women.

Yes? No? Bad idea? Good idea?

I showed my GP the Dexter study and had no trouble getting norethisterone (5 mg tablets) prescribed.

Very interesting. Confirms the idea that we can influence otherwise-resistant doctors about POIS.
