J Dermatol. 1991 Apr;18(4):206-10.A case of seminal fluid allergy successfully treated with immunotherapy in a one-day rush procedure.Boom BW, van Toorenenbergen AW, Nierop G, van der Schroeff JG.Department of Dermatology, University Hospital Leiden, The Netherlands.AbstractA 28-year-old woman was treated for seminal fluid allergy with immunotherapy using a one-day 'rush' procedure. Apart from minor anaphylactic symptoms, no serious side effects were noted during or after hyposensitization or boostering. Five weeks after the start of the hyposensitization, she was free of symptoms after unprotected coitus.PMID: 1918594 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]Publication Types, MeSH Terms, SubstancesLinkOut - more resourceshttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1918594if you guys are wondering how i am finding this articles, i typed in semen allergy in google scholar inorder to look for doctor that has worked with semen allergy in us.
Hello all,You can add one more guy the the POIS sufferer list.2 Things triggers POIS episode in my case: intense physical activity and sex. Episodes are very nasty and can last from 4 to 15 days.I've managed to ejaculate without orgasm very quickly, resulting in no POIS. I have to empty the tank once a week or so, otherwise I feel like my prostate is going to burst. I was wondering is someone had considered something as extreme as prostatectomy?
Does the "POIS" from intense physical activity last as long as regular POIS? (3 to 7 days?) And with the same symptoms?
It's interesting that ejaculation without orgasm doesn't cause POIS. It's normally the expulsion of semen that causes POIS.
Something like removing the prostate doesn't necesarilly guarantee relief, and especially after such a drastic move, it would be a shame if it didn't help. We're on the verge of some very interesting discoveries which I think could be much less invasive, so pull up a seat and welcome!!
Thank you for your welcome, and please forgive my caustic style.Quote from: daveman on 10/03/2011 21:02:00Does the "POIS" from intense physical activity last as long as regular POIS? (3 to 7 days?) The symptoms are very intense, both physical and mental. I'm 90% incapacitated during an episode. In my case, there's a threshold. As long as sexual activity or physical activity remains below the threshold, I'm fine. I found also that there seems to be a cumulative effect. Episodes do not come suddenly, I can feel a very subtly build up and symptoms onset before the crash.Im under the impression that POIS and CFS are cousins.Quote from: daveman on 10/03/2011 21:02:00It's interesting that ejaculation without orgasm doesn't cause POIS. I cant imagine an allergy producing such symptoms.Quote from: daveman on 10/03/2011 21:02:00Something like removing the prostate doesn't necesarilly guarantee relief, and especially after such a drastic move, it would be a shame if it didn't help. Seriously, I think I would be ready to get rid of whatever it takes to be POIS free, even the balls and a finger, if necessary. With all due respect, we have been on the verge of some very interesting discoveries about cancer, and many infectious diseases for half a century.

I went to an urologist/sexologue yesterday and we "talked" about silodosin and then he decided to give it a trial. I started yesterday evening (8mg) and had already a dry O during the night ! Moreover, I feel like hurray, more tired. BUT It is stated that silodosin can stop semence emission after 3 days so I could say more about it in about 5 days, to see if I have same results as hurray. []To finish, the doctor I saw yesterday was really narrow-minded (as many member's doctor) and it was the first time for me...He didn't want to give a look at dr Waldinger's papers saying "it was impossible" and said everybody is allergic to his own semence..."it is ME the doctor here, I only can say what you have, no one else"... He started to pay attention of what I said when I told him "it is me the patient here, I can decide if I pay.... or no []"I haven't been so mad at a doctor before but he got a huge ethic lesson from an almost 20 years old guy, epic moment in my life i wanted to share... []
Habibou, yes good idea! But I would eliminate any test of a semen-component that is tiny, e.g., < 1%
You've taken a brave step into the unknown Habibou, hopefully what you discover can benefit us all! Hopefully Silodosin's side-effect of tiredness is only temporary for you - it was very different to the POIS symptoms I have experienced over the years (I just felt sleepy), but I still found it unwelcome when I needed to work and socialise.Good for you putting the doctor in his place, a good doctor would be interested in learning about a new study, the 'I KNOW EVERYTHING" act doesn't work so well for rare diseases, as your unlucky doctor found out []
i got silodosin to 8mg but problem is am already in pois, so i am wondering if it will affect recovery process, did it affect yours hurray, i also intend on using at night since that is when NE is going to occur and may be i can sleep out drowsiness, you use it at night.
Let's back to Silodosin trial -> I feel cooool, my narrow throat is way less than before and I feel a little "on my cloud", I guess it is the sleeping feeling Hurray gets? As it is an alpha blocker, it works on the adrenergic receptors and lower the stress feeling + attention (on a cloud...).I unfortunatly had a NE just before I started the treatment, so I have to wait some days to try a new O and see the consequences under silodosin. But, the night after I took it for the first time , I had a totally dry O, very intense [] so I guess it works on me.I will update when I have a volontary O ! [The doctor] started to pay attention to what I said when I told him "it is me the patient here, I can decide if I pay.... or not []"

[]Good for you!! And you're DARN WELL RIGHTWe've got to stand up. Ask the M/F how many years of experience in sexual medicine he has. Then tell him how many Dr. Waldinger has who wrote the paper. If they read it and disagree, well, experience still counts, but if they don't even want to read it, that's plain stupid ignorance!
