I experienced that from the 1st day to the 7th after orgasm physical activities like cardio exercise like walking on treadmill or running or climbing lots of stairs also cause pois for me but after the 7th day these cardio exercise and any level of physical activity does not cause pois.I think the first 7 days my energy slowly keeps on increasing but not enough for the body but after the 7 th day spike the energy level is quite enough that physical activities don't drain the energy levels.I just had a month without an orgasm and I witnessed one more thing is that every 7th day after I had stopped orgasming my energy level used to increase more and more and more with no limit to it and I was loving it,but then one fine night I got an erection and I became a victim of my desire and hell broke over me and since then today is the 5 th day I am still not back to normal but everyday I am becoming better and I am waiting for the 7th day when I will be back to normal till then living a lazy life with no joy just anxietY and anxiety.

Hello,

I shared some of things that bring some pois relief to me (p.660). It is especially stretching, or loosening of pelvic floor and strengthening of deep abdomen muscles. I suppose tail bone is affected too.

Did anyone have similar relief through this? Is it worth exploring further?

Niacin (with flush affect) is not available in my country. Under what name is it distributed in the US?

Do you live in the U.S.? Then i think it would be easy for you to find niacin in your country. Vincent Marcus could help you, because he lives in the U.S., but i am buying the niacin Solgar 100 mg- A brand from the U.S., representing Nature“s bounty?- in Spain. So you could try in any Wal-mart if you are living in the U.S.

On reddit, I was approached by a TV producer interested in telling the story of a POIS sufferer on TV. This is not something that feels right for me to participate in at the moment so I personally am not going to do it. I suggested he make a post on our forum about it in case anyone else is interested.

If anyone decides they are interested in a TV appearance, I would advise you to contact Animus and Observercenter to see how they found the experience. Also, if you contact the TV company, ask lots of questions and make sure you are comfortable with the style, aims and audience of the programme and with how you will be portrayed. Obviously this is potentially good publicity for our cause if someone is willing and is happy with the set-up. The producer's email is brenna@trailblazerstudios.com (website: www.trailblazerstudios.com).

Thanks for advice. I actually live in Europe. I will look for Solgar. Any other non time release brands available in Europe?

Someone mentioned that the most effective form of Niacin is nicotinic acid, not the nicotineamid. Does Solgar provide nicotinic acid form?

I'm just posting here real quick in addition to on the POISforums where I usually post.  I have had trouble getting a niacin flush, and have recently tried 3 grams (GRAMS) and had very little sensation of flush.  It seems critical for my treatment to have a flush.  I usually wait 20 minutes after flush (30 minutes?) before O.  I read that some here wait 60 minutes.  I will try that next.

I really don't want to become desensitized to niacin, but I am 25 and my sex drive is hard to deal with!!

Hi,

Last week I posted that I am suspecting the long term effects of Chickenpox may be lead to POIS.  I have taken medicines used for healing chickenpox.  But none of them worked for POIS.

Interestingly, I observed another symptoms that will increase POIS effects me.  If I drunk Coconut water in POIS period my symptoms of POIS will increase and it will reach worst.  I drunk coconut water  in 4th day after "o" and the symptoms of POIS is increased worst like 2nd day.  During NOn-POIS days drinking of cocount water is not cause anything to me.  But if I drunk in POIS days, the POIS symptoms will increase and I feel like a some Bacteria / virus is growing in my body and If I drunk 2 or 3 coconut water, I will suffer throat infection on that day.

Does any one observed this symptom?.

weird, coconut water actually makes me feel a bit livelier. How many people will be part of the first Nord research, assuming we find the extra money? Perhaps there are different kinds of POIS.

I support this hypothesis as well as my POIS started right after chickenpox (i was 21 years old). I have created a poll that asks if you had a chickenpox as a child or an adult: newbielink:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGQ5NFh5XzM3b0VLVGZBQk1XU240elE6MQ [nonactive] and encourage forum members to answer it so we will be able to say if the ration between us and healthy people in terms of chickenpox virus is the same.

Since many of us may have similar questions that can help to gather some statistics about POIS I also to created a poll that can be edited by anyone so if you can contribute to this poll with some question please feel free to do so: newbielink:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/gform?key=0AjR9YCwateRQdDF3ancwZndRWFBOT29CbFJLYVBYOVE&gridId=0#edit [nonactive]

Just click "Add item" in the left top corner, choose type of a question and fill the inputs.

Hi Defsync,
Thanks for the thought. Actually, as Vincent Marcus pointed out to me a while back, there are actually two Facebook pages!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Post-Orgasmic-Illness-Syndrome/129914263717751
and

Didn't realise POIS has a facebook page. Thanks whoever did that. Not sure how many sufferers would be comfortable "liking" it on facebook though. 20 people have so far - don't know if they are sufferers or not
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Post-Orgasmic-Illness-Syndrome/129914263717751

There are actually 2 POIS groups on facebook that I know of. Well one is just a page I guess, but this is the link to it: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Post-Orgasmic-Illness-Syndrome-POIS/175719769110249

I made an alternate facebook account to "like" and join the groups.

Personally, I haven't joined either page. I can count on one hand the number of friends who know about my POIS and still have a finger left over. I'm not ready I don't think for everyone to know about my POIS. I do have some other friends who I'd be comfortable telling though. On that topic, if someone is reading this who hasn't told anyone at all about his POIS and is wondering about telling a close friend, well in my experience its a good thing to confide in some one. Its not such a big deal. People who care about you are understanding. It can seem like a huge step telling someone but in my experience it works out well and isn't an ordeal at all when you've done it, its a positive thing.

Of course having people who know about POIS and who are understanding is also a big part of what this forum does for all of us.

I don't think it does any harm to include it. Along with the mention of Girlwind's video, the tv shows, the NIH listing etc, it helps show that, as well as being a support group, we are pro-actively trying to raise the profile of POIS and improve our understanding of it. If someone joins our group and from the start is presented with the mind-set that we are a pro-active group, that can only encourage them to get down and contribute ideas and actions themselves. The other thing about reddit in terms of a newcomer seeing it is that it contains reactions from non-POIS sufferers, the vast majority of which are sympathetic/understanding. It shows how people perceive our condition. It also emphasises that POIS is one rare illness amongst many that exist and it needs to be tackled as such - by raising awareness, securing funds and carrying out research.

I had POIS since puberty and had a chickenpox in adult age, several years after I had POIS already

I saw Dr Goldmeier today, a POIS specialist, i found him very easy to get on with.
He asked my symptoms and some general physical and mental health questions.
This is what he recommended after listening to my particular presentation:
*He thought that my general state of anxiety meant that orgasm plummeted me to a state of exhaustion which i could take on board, he suggested a book and the practice of mindfulness meditation to dela with the anc=xiety and bring about a more level state.
*Blood tests to determine levels of various things in my bloodstream - results in ten days.
* An antihistamine called Levatra that we agreed i could start if necessary after 8 weeks or so of the mindfulness practice.
* having neuropyschogical tests pre and post orgasm.
* seeing an immunologist when an appointment comes up in 2 months time. i suffer from tree pollen, animal fur, dairy allergy so various tests will be performed.

I feel very pleased with these actions, the British N.H.S. is truly wonderful, all these services free at point of delivery.

Dr Goldmeier said it seemed that my case was not as severe as some he had seen, I agreed that i had read what appeared to be more severe stories on the forum. He did not give definitive answers as to what caused POIS or say that he believed that any partiuclar anti-POIS strategy i was using was definitely working.
I believe however that Zinc supplements, Niacin (Flushing type -100mg) taken at a certain point before orgasm, gentle exercise and a new wonderful sexual relationship were all helping mitigate the effects of POIS.

I think its worth noting that this year my usual tree pollen allergy (hazel, cherry, laurel) has not started. This would usually be in full flow in April with debilitating effects similar to POIS. The only thing i can think of that is different this year is Niacin supplementation - 100 mg, probably 2 or 3 times a week and that this is somehow effecting the histamine in my body.

Anyway, i am happy to report all this and hope that the work Dr Goldmeier does with me advances the knowledge base about POIS. We will crack this together boys!!

Great news badgerstripe! I am starting my 4th week of the 8 week mindful meditation course (same book I think: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mindfulness-practical-guide-finding-frantic/dp/074995308X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333696953&sr=8-1)

I have an antihistamine to test too - probably the same one - but am waiting for a non-POIS health issue to clear before trying it.

Really glad you went to Dr Goldmeier and thanks for reporting back. Good luck!

As I've said before, Dr G is willing to see anyone with POIS from the UK. (He's seen one or two POIS sufferers from other countries in Europe too).
