Dr. David Goldmeier, London is willing to see anyone with POIS from the UK. (He's seen one or two POIS sufferers from other countries in Europe too).

Dr. David Goldmeier in London is a wonderful and very knowledgeable physician-friend to POISers!

Very grateful we found him.

If anyone wants his email, or his published POIS paper (his PDF paper requires your regular email address) just send me a PM.

Hello,

I shared some of things that bring some pois relief to me (p.660). It is especially stretching, or loosening of pelvic floor and strengthening of deep abdomen muscles. I suppose tail bone is affected too.

Did anyone have similar relief through this? Is it worth exploring further?

Niacin (with flush affect) is not available in my country. Under what name is it distributed in the US?

Do you live in the U.S.? Then i think it would be easy for you to find niacin in your country. Vincent Marcus could help you, because he lives in the U.S., but i am buying the niacin Solgar 100 mg- A brand from the U.S., representing Nature´s bounty?- in Spain. So you could try in any Wal-mart if you are living in the U.S.

Regards

Thanks for advice. I actually live in Europe. I will look for Solgar. Any other non time release brands available in Europe?

Someone mentioned that the most effective form of Niacin is nicotinic acid, not the nicotineamid. Does Solgar provide nicotinic acid form?

Yep, solgar provides the nicotinic acid form.

http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/default.htm (Preview)
http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/3470261.htm

I do not know how we could watch it, maybe we have to wait after the official broadcast.

Hi everyone,

10 days back, I decided to not to have orgasm for next one or one and half month and I wanted to see how I will be free in Non-POIS period.

In this forum, I read that Niacin will reduce the POIS symptoms.  In our area, Niacin tablets is not available.  Hence I decided to use B.Complex (which contain Niacin) tablets instead of Niacin.  11 days back i decided to have orgasm and I have taken B.complex tablets 4 hours before the orgasm.  After 4 hours of orgasm, I took another B.complex tablet.  Further I also used Garlic.    In the first day of orgasm, I noticed reduction in POIS symptoms and I recovered from POIS symptoms in just 3 and half days completely.  From fourth day onwards I am completely relived from POIS symptoms and I started enjoying the days (after long time in my life) and i got peace in my mind.  From the fourth day I started meeting with my old friends and spend a time with them.  During these days, I was very happy, my concentration level is very high with good memory power and I was enjoying the days.
Yesterday, it was my 10th day after "O" and I gone to movie with my friends in a very good mood and enjoyment.  In the beginning of the movie, my mind has calmness, good concentration level and happiness exist.

In the middle of  movie there was a Romantic scene and Sexual scene for 5 minutes.   While watching the scene I was normal and I did't observed any thing at that time.  But after coming out from the theater I was experienced the first day of POIS symptoms.  I did't able to drive cleraly while going to home and my mind started to exhaust and my concentration level and memory power hit a worst and in the night (during sleep) i got many dreams (I usually got more dreams in POIS period, i don't know the reason why it is like this, I can say it is excessive dreaming that will happen in POIS period).   Today the symptoms reached worst.  The symptoms were same as second day after "O" and now it is confirmed for me that I experiencing POIS symptoms without had "O" and these symptoms triggered by just watching a 4 minutes romance and Sexual scene in a movie.

Hi, does anyone has experienced this? and how POIS triggered by just watching a sexual scene in a movie.

Hi Nathan123,

I believe that a few men have posted here (or on the SMF site) that sexual stimulation without the ejaculation does bring on POIS symptoms.

Hi Nathan123,

Yes sometimes sexual stimulation does bring on symptoms (for me) and sometimes it doesn't.  The stimulation does bring on an "excited" state in the body which is not going to promote calmness and relaxation and hence a POIS state might emerge.  Plus even seeing that sexual scene in the theater might startle you and lead to an anxious-like POIS response just by thinking about sex and the consequences of having it.

Lately I've been having success with vitamin C in bigger dosages, I take 1500 mg in the morning and a claritin at night and I seem to be doing very well.  Sometimes after "O" POIS will be there to a certain extent which is not as debilitating as my O's previously, and sometimes I will be totally cleared of it and not feel it at all.  My "O" plan is "O'ing" about 3 times a week with all "O's" during the same night.

I'm not sure if we made the donation amount or not but either way it is a very big step.  If we didn't make it this year we have a VERY big shot of making it the next.  We are definitely headed in the right direction.

I won't go into details, but I also will have on an occasion a milder form of Pois if I watch sexually graphic videos for over a coupe of hours even without having an O.Strangely if I can have the willpower. to watch only a couple hours of these videos I feel a sense of relaxation, and a sense of mild euphoria .If I watch too much I will get strong heart palpitaions, feel very dizzy, moderate fatigue and a general spacyness that lasts for about as long as an O,though as I said the effects aren't nearly as strong as when I have an O. Its almost like I develop a milder version of the effects an O as I feel some of the good things that immediately come after an O such as the euphoria, wellbeing, but then the spaciness ,brainfog, and moodiness come in at a albeit at less intensity.

Pornographic videos have an overall negative effect, and I certainly don't condone or encourage people with Pois watching as it definitely encourages and tempts them to have an O. Unfortunately human beings are very sexual creates and it can be quite hard to resist the sexual urges when they come on

Hey guys, I read through most of this forum and I fully support you guys. I'm 19 and this illness is devastating my life, to top it off I have a massive sex drive. I've done research on my symptoms and I linked it to being overweight, lazyness, video games, and overmastubation(I'm talking 6-7 times in a day) but recently I learned that it was just the orgasms giving me this terrible feeling. Since my mid teens I've been always trying to figure out what was wrong with me, because I'm always tired, can't think clearly most of the time, have bad social skills with people and can't connect emotionally or say the right words, depression, and anxiety. Even though I understand them completely this horrible fatigue prevents me from saying what I really wan't to say and how I say it. It's like I feel weak, I speak in a low tone, I can't even bring myself to yell and most of the time there's a akward silence and I feel I always leave bad impressions on people because of how I talk and how I am, which I hate because I know that's not who I am. My student record is horrifying and I'm finally graduation this June. Basically I feel out of place in this world.
Anyways last month I decided to stop masturbating for extra energy to support my workout regime and in 1 week I was thinking clearly, feeling AMAZING, talking to everything and wasn't afraid to do it, I felt like I belonged and that I wasted so much time and felt I could do anything. I realized that having orgasms had the crippling effect that gave me all these symptoms and had me like this since I was 15. So, I planned to avoid all sexual content and work on myself to better my relationships with friends and family and things were looking good until last week.
I had a wetdream AND ALL SYMPTOMS came back, on top of that I felt a sex craze from iy and continued doing it for most of last weekend so I feeling pretty horrible now but I won't fail myself again, i'll control myself until I can treat this thing properly, so thanks again for everyone getting this noticed I'll donate when I can and support yall every step of the way.

Thanks.

In addition to serving our own informational interests, the resources listed above can be useful for you to show our credibility to the medical world - which often shows little understanding and is sometimes skeptical of our condition: POIS has scientific underpinnings and POIS is not "just another psychological problem" related to sex - to be treated by the psychiatric/psychotherapeutic community. All of this information can greatly help you to fight the immediate reaction of some doctors: so just tell them, "IT'S NOT 'ALL IN OUR HEADS'! "

It can be very  helpful to you when dealing with medical professionals to point out the
POIS' official listing, as recognized by the
National Institutes for Health (NIH), Office of Rare Diseases Research
:

And in Europe: Orphanet now lists POIS on their website! - Click here!

POIS also appears in credible medical sources such as the Journal of Sexual Medicine (Dr. Waldinger's study), British Medical Journal and wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postorgasmic_illness_syndrome

For over 4 years, our POIS forum has attracted over 200 POIS sufferers worldwide who have posted here, research on an additional 200 sufferers elsewhere on the internet, plus our pages have been read nearly 2,000,000 times! Not bad for a rare malady!

SEARCH THE FORUM WITH GOOGLE

We have an overwhelming amount of data: more than 4 years' worth of posts (over  10,000 posts!) from 200+ Forum members, and an additional 200 POIS sufferers found elsewhere on the Internet by Member B_Jim.

In the Google search box, type
whatever-it-is-you're-interested-in-finding-out[space]POIS[space]site:http://thenakedscientists.com/

for example, I tried
nocturnal emission POIS site:http://thenakedscientists.com/

and 740 results came up for "nocturnal emission" within the Forum.

be careful with spaces (you can use them before the word "site") and no-spaces (everything after the word "site")

Google even provides you results with the Message# for each result. But Message #'s do change, so be patient and look for the approximate Message#.
