Are infinity or eternity impossible facts of reality?

We often use the word ‘infinity’ when describing something that goes on forever. But it can also be used to describe something that doesn’t go on forever, or for which its value is absolute, such as absolute zero or at the singularity etc?
To me the concept of infinitely is a contradiction in terms it seems to be an impossible truth or "unimaginable fact" yet logic tells me it cannot be a reality , yet at the same time it must be to balance all equations.
Mathematically we can and do use it, but is it not some sort of oxymoron, such as a "factual impossibility?"
With eternity we have the same dilemma do we not?
