Before farming was invented, human population was much lower than now.
Farming, food processing and distribution without fossil fuel will not sustain the current population.

Renewable energy sources can generate much more than fossil fuel with less operational cost.

Renewable energy sources can generate much more than fossil fuel with less operational cost.
The maximum renewable energy available within UK territorial limits is about 10 - 20% of present consumption. The depreciated operational cost is enormous because we have no economical means of storing and distributing most of it.

It won't get improved by itself. You need to improve it, and it requires investments.

What is Money?
Quote
"you as an individual can run out of money but society can never run out of money and if the government has gone into debt it is because somebody has accumulated money; it's always in balance"

With regards to interest - Central Banks receive interest on the loans they make, and they also pay interest every day to the holders of money, so this balances out societally and does not take the monetary system out of balance.

"The Economy" Isn't What You Think
And some comments.
Quote
...So, let me get this straight:
1. Boss exploits the worker, thus the GDP thing goes up.
2. Politician convinces the worker that "More GDP means that businesses do well, so that means that the boss can provide more jobs"
3. Boss is cutting jobs so that the boss can profit, and the business can prosper.
4. All is going "great" because GDP is going up, boss's earnings go up, politicians carrers go up, because GDP goes up... everything is going up, except for the worker's living conditions.

Did I get the gist of it?
Quote
Reminds me of an old joke:

Two economists are walking in a forest when they come across a pile of manure.

The first economist says to the other ?I?ll pay you $100 to eat that pile of manure.? The second economist takes the $100 and eats the pile of manure.

They continue walking until they come across a second pile of manure. The second economist turns to the first and says ?I?ll pay you $100 to eat that pile of manure.? The first economist takes the $100 and eats a pile of manure.

Walking a little more, the first economist looks at the second and says, "You know, I gave you $100 to eat manure, then you gave me back the same $100 to eat manure. I can't help but feel like we both just ate manure for nothing."

"That's not true", responded the second economist. "We increased the GDP by $200!"
Quote
I once had an economist tell me that a good economy just means that money is moving. It does not mean that it is moving toward you. And that is probably one of the most succinct definitions I've ever heard
Quote
I'm an economics freshman, and literally the first thing my professor told us at a lecture about GDP was: "It's bullshit, use it as sparingly as possible".

Not if the bank makes a profit. from mortgages. Which it does, and distributes most of it to its stockholders.

Yuval Noah Harari and Jessika Gedin discussing his latest book, 'Nexus: A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI' on Babel ? an arts program on Sweden's ‪@svt‬ channel. In this conversation with host Jessika Gedin, Harari explores one of today?s most pressing questions: what should we do when non-human intelligence threatens our existence?

'Nexus' examines how information networks have shaped human history ? from ancient oral traditions to modern AI-driven societies. How have these networks empowered civilizations? And in an age of artificial intelligence, what risks do they pose?

Switch it off. Or kill the guy who is deploying it for his benefit.

It would be easier said than done.
Besides, bureaucratic and economic systems run by humans aren't necessarily better.

Our non-human ancestors might have gone extinct. But that's not necessarily a bad thing since we are here.

Our successors maybe different from us in our current form or genetic composition. But if they're better at survival further into the future, it would be a good thing. At least according to the universal terminal goal.
