Simulated Time Travel
« on: 01/11/2018 20:43:18 »
Imagine we computer-simulate the present now to it's finest of detail. All reality simulated, including all people, our planet, atoms... everything! Cause & Effect. Simulate every possible cause / action and see every possible outcome / effect?

A time machine that enables us to see into the past and future.

Future:
Go over the street now or wait till the lights are actually green? Such an simulation can skip forward in time and tell if the speeding drunken idiot will kill you or everything is safe.

Realize this or that business idea? The simulation shows which of the ideas will (if) have success.

Past:
What led to the now? With the infinite parallel simulations one can try every possible cause beforehand out. Only one cause can lead to the effect of the here and now. You sit here in front of your computer reading this because of a (set of) reason(s) which I don't know of... maybe even you don't know why you are reading this but the simulation can know and that's exactly how it is possible to see back in time.

Yes, we would need an unimaginable amount of computing power and probably whole stars as energy source to power such machinery, but this is about theories, right?

Let's think without boundaries.

Well, if you only simulated from the present forward, it isn't going to be useful to see into the past.  That's OK, since I can see into the past without the machine.

If you don't wait for the green light, you are the speeding drunken idiot.  The light does not protect you from other drunken drivers.  Sorry, all glib answers, I know.

OK, a real answer.  The machine would need to exist.  If it did all this, it is outside of the universe, and cannot be used to gather knowledge by the people being simulated, else it would change the initial conditions of the simulation.
Of course if we knew the future of stocks, the whole system would collapse.  It is based on a balance of probability.

They already do this.

The entire universe is not enough to hold a machine capable of foretelling one second from now, mostly because it would have to simulate itself to do it.

Let's recognize a boundary when it's right in front of us.

I think its odd that time travel is spoken about using one dimensional time.

Surely time travel could only work if time had a universal algorithm including future and past variables, right...and not simply a now "arrow"?

Ok, lets say I go back on a memory, and change my reaction to that.....its undeniable to me that my present life changes....am I a De-Lorian...and where's physics with this mind de-lorian stuff?

I "know" if I used my memories and changed a decision that it would slowly impact on those around me today. They would see "my" change and react differently to me as per yesterday before this thought experiment on time.

Normally, they would say, "why so different"? Obviously I can't say I tripped back in time and changed a few things about myself.....who's buzzing that?

And so here is the issue with time travel and impacting on others.

I don't think the universe cares, and in saying that it, the universe, has a very big body of people who also couldn't give a 4x.

Changing the past.
Science has done boo boos also.

Is science trying to be more "life"?

It  is  very  simple  ,  the  ''future''  is  always  ahead  of  you  ,   you  could  travel  at  infinite  speed   but    you  can  never  catch  up  with  the  future   because  the  future  is  always  ahead  of  you,  the  futures  future.

Maybe that's it, maybe consciousness is that futuristic unicorn? We try, we grasp.....we fall back into the past when someone reminds us of a serious connection? Something we haven't been able to prove in a petri dish, creation of life?

Can we change someone else's life in altering our memories?

What would it take to change someone else's life by changing our memories of them, what type of belief system?

How many other people would be required without consulting the idea and not just idea but the idea itself of God?

I don't think there's any need to judge who is doing what as a need to time travel......that's why we need a "non-life" science, right.....because everything else doesn't come up trumps......

Some  questions  in  life  we  just  don't  know  the  answers  too  ,  we  have  no  idea  how  we  get  to  the  answer  but  we  are  guided   by  our  own  consciousness .
We  then  share  these  ideas  with  each  other   for  opinions  and  discussion ,  trusting  we  get  conversation  instead  of  malarkey.
I  think in  conscious  decisions  and  thoughts  there  is  lot  to be said  without  experimenting  .  It's  like  sometimes  there  is  incidents  in  the  world  that  are just  insane  to  explain,  but before you think about that !  I hope  you understand  I  talk a  lot  of  nonsense  also.

Can  we  understand  a  book  if  we  never  finished  reading  that  book ?

To  judge  is  a  sense  of  remaining  neutral  and  unbiased  ,  considering  everything.

Can you judge someone who floats their boat better?

can you ask them how they float their boat better....in reality, waking?

Why would you?

Why not ask them about you.....how great that is?

Are we still trying to define human values?

Where's science on the topic of human values? Cheap shot, sure, but it is in the equation?
