I realized this when using portable office application software in early 2000s. The folder contained 4 executable files, each for word processor, spread sheet, presentation, and database applications. Executable file size for the database application was much larger than word processor, spread sheet, and presentation combined. But you can't run the applications from thumb drive without the executable file for the database. I concluded that the executable files for the other applications only contained the user interfaces between operator and the database.
