There will be a strong correlation between having had a flu shot last year and dying of covid (among those who caught it).

There will also be a strong correlation with being able to remember the second world war.
It will also correlate with owning an inhaler.

Not sure what use this data is, but you are welcome.

Poor old Bored Chemist.
Wong on both counts.

Just out of idle curiosity, what question did you think you had asked?

Age differences are easy to deal with, the trickier confounding variables are the reasons people choose to have or not have the jab. But a pilot study would tel us if there is a need to look further. Any health system which has a proper data base could carry out a pilot study very quickly... as anyone who listens to TMS will know.

Tetramethylsilane?
Test Match Special?

There's no particular reason to think that a flu jab would make a difference.
So, don't you agree that  it would make sense to spend the time and money looking at other things first?

There was a study in 2012 which found an incrased number of respiratory diseases in children who had the flu shot https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3404712/ subsequent studies failed to find a correlation. A more recent study found

Vaccine derived virus interference was significantly associated with coronavirus and human metapneumovirus; however, significant protection with vaccination was associated not only with most influenza viruses, but also parainfluenza, RSV, and non-influenza virus coinfections.
