How do you keep fit during the pandemic?
« on: 02/12/2020 11:24:06 »
Hey guys,
I was just wondering how you stay active during the pandemic. In my country gyms are closed at the moment, so I decided to invest in an E-Bike to be able to drive to work with it and get some cardio in that way. If you also interested in electric bikes, I can strongly advise you to read this article about E-Bikes, which also compares a few good ones: https://www.fahrradbook.de/e-bike-test/ [nofollow] (the article is in German can be easily translated with Google Translate)
What do you guys do stay fit? Do you have a home gym or go fur runs?

Why not use a non-Ebike, more effort, more fitness!

I do have treadmill, rower and static bike for really wet weather, but do quite a bit of walking as static machines are not ideal. Remember to add weights into your routine.
Getting out for exercise into clean air and daylight is important.

Same as what I always did.

I mow grass, rake leaves, shovel snow. I don't own a tractor, leaf blower or snow blower.
I also take long hikes. The trails aren't so crowed that you meet people more than every half hour or so.

How did the human race survive before we invented machines to turn our energy into heat?

I was involved in building an early "health complex". One day I walked through a gallery of grim, silent sweaty people having a thoroughly miserable time and paying mightily for the privilege of cycling to nowhere. I walked down the stairs to where  a gang of sweaty blokes were having a thoroughly good time (judging from the singing and banter) sawing wood and shovelling concrete to build a swimming pool, and getting paid for it. I've never been to a gym as a punter.

Walking has become less fun since the dog died, but we're looking for another one. Meanwhile there is no limit to the number of times you can reorganise a garden, and like the pool builders, you end up with a product (mostly beans and quinces this year), not just a puddle of sweat.
