No, it’s not a side effect of the vaccine. You are likely to have caught the virus before you were vaccinated and before you were showing any symptoms.
Also, remember it takes time for immunity to build up, and that no protection is 100%, so you can still catch the virus after being immunised.

You might however expect (indeed hope!) to test positive for antibodies, so be careful in your choice of test.

If the PCR test is looking only for spike protein genes, there will be some of it there and it's possible that this would cause a false negative. It wouldn't surprise me if there were such tests, even though a single site test looking for an area of RNA which mutates might not be everybody's choice.
