Why do We get Irked or Angry when someone Abuses Us?
« on: 02/03/2021 20:33:17 »
Anyways, just what is the Deal with abusive language?
I mean to ask, Why do some such words bother Us?
There must be a psychological science behind this, Right?
🤔

Say if Someone calls me a DOG...
Isn't that more off a Compliment?
Loyal + Cute + Playful + Best Companion!
🐶

What's so Wrong being called a Clown?
Jerky + Funny + Lively!
🤡

Yeaaaah!
I'm coming to it...
Folks point out at genitalia.
Holes & stuff.
But that's simply biological...everybody got holes Right?
Yaa sum got big others small sum r here n there n sum got em everywhere...So Waat?
🤔

If Someone adds my Mother + & a sexual intercourse term behind it...
Why do i get Offended?
😏
Obviously i do Not instantly turn into Whatever Someone thinks or says bout Mee!
😇

Just wish to Understand the logic behind this...
I Agree abusive words are unhealthy & uncalled for.
👍
Please Do Not Misunderstand Me taking a stand For abusive & profane language.
🙏

I just wish to know Why does it irk me?
Why do i lose my cool?
Why do just Words typed in a specific format feel like i was assaulted Physically?
What makes Me send an abusive response, in response to abuses?
WHY???
🤔

P.S. - Neaah!
I rarely abuse, coz i do Not find it productive... it's simply childishly lame!

All language is a code for meaning. Abuse just means"I don't like you",  and if you had no prior ill-feeling towards the abuser, it's a rejection of your natural impulse to collaborate with others of your species.

Abuse based on prejudice means "I don't have a mind of my own but other people profit from my not liking you". The abuser is usually inconsequential, but  what annoys me is that demagogues can make a living by sowing prejudice.

@alancalverd

Hello!
😊
Thanks for your response.

So " Abuses " simply mean We do not like someone, or perhaps even hate them personally or strictly are against their ideologies.
👍

So...Not understand or say misunderstanding " Abuses " as just a natural way of communicating Disagreement is quite normal then.
But yes, taking or absorbing
" Abuses " personally would hinder our Progress in terms of collaboration with people who have different perspectives & ideologies than Ours.
(Am i grasping this correctly?)

" Abuse based on prejudice means "I don't have a mind of my own but other people profit from my not liking you". "
LOL...Well said.
👍

But aren't Demagogues or Religious or Political Leaders just a mirrored reflection of the emotions & feelings of the masses of majority as a whole...

I mean...umm...well...if i could try to elaborate this...

In the jungle country of Donkey Kong...elections were held.
Patriotic donkeys were all in disagreement & wanted to teach a lesson to their neighbours, The Crocodilian Lake Empire.
Eventually, out of all running candidates, the most ill mouthed Donkey was chosen as their Elected Leader...the very next moment He declared war on the Crocodilian Lake Empire...& Eventually, legend has it that the donkeys lost big time as they were not equipped to fight underwater & their forces were low in armour equipment technology & very high in overconfidence & spirit.

So...is just the Donkey Leader to Blame?
What about all the smart ass patriotic Donkeys who chose him to lead them?
I mean, aren't they all Equally responsible for their own losses?
🤔

P.S. - In any War, there are No Winners...only a Loser...& a Bigger Loser!

Such statements bother us because we project our feelings onto what is said and impute an opinion to it. If we think that someone who calls me a dog means it rather negatively, this statement also comes across negatively to us.
Mostly we include too much of our doubts and feelings in such situations.

@sciencefan

Hello!
🙂

Perhaps We should be less emotional towards Negative words.

Just because someone calls or refers to Me as a MoFo...does Not necessarily mean i was, am, or will be one in the future.

P.S. - Best to disown abusive packages...& Have them " Sent back to the Original Sender ".
