Does spin direction change dependent on hemisphere?
« on: 22/06/2021 03:29:15 »
Paul has a sound question:

"When I place my modern [Brand Removed] Wireless Speaker on a flat surface and play music it slowly rotates in a clockwise direction
Why?
Would it rotate counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere?"

It's not one of those archaic Leslie Speakers?

Why?
I assume the vibration from the music is causing the speaker to move.  The direction of the movement is a result of the points of contact of the speaker to the surface it is on.

Would it rotate counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere?
No, it has nothing to do with the Coriolis effect.
