Trools only show themselves by their behaviour unless we occasionally spot a returning sock puppet.
Spammers are usually easier to spot, but we don’t want to let those in - unless, that is, you want more advertising of gambling, porn, prostitution, drugs etc.

🙋
You know, I'd like to see what happens to this place without MODS for a week...lol!
🤭
(Go ahead n take a week off y'all, We kiddiez shall Behave, just Trust Us)
🤣

By the way, what happened to the TNS ADs?
Now when I'm logging in, i do Not see any atall, Why?

Also, is there a Buffer set for 1 Question/OP per User per Day?
(I'm guessing there is, what an ingenious & incredible idea)
👍

Ps - i wanted to know what folks think & feel of Facebook's new venture hence thought this would create a buzz in " Just Chat ".
My Bad!
If Mods wish, please move it to Technology or Geek Speak.
👍
(Do people dislike FB now, or they hate Mark even more now, trust issues eh?)

I still see ads here. They are more noticeable in mobile phones, since they can occupy almost half of the screen.

Let's see an interesting opinion I found on Twitter.
https://twitter.com/ShaanVP/status/1454151237650112512?t=DkkozhFG0wdsNQ7Xoq8v6A&s=03
Quote
Hot take: Everyone is wrong about the Metaverse.

here's my 3 part theory..

Quote
Part I - Everyone is wrong

Most people think "the metaverse" is a virtual place.

Like in the movie Ready Player One.

A virtual world, like Minecraft, Roblox, or like Zuck showed in the facebook demo yesterday.

But what if it's not a place?
Quote
Part II - It's Not a Place, It's a Time

A time? wtf?

Yes, a moment in time.

You know in artificial intelligence, there's an idea of "the singularity"?

It's a moment in time where AI becomes smarter than humans. The moment when artificial intelligence > human intelligence
Quote
Part III - What it is

The metaverse is the moment in time where our digital life is worth more to us than our phsyical life.

This is not an overnight change. Or an invention by some steve jobs type.

It's a gradual change that's been happening for 20 yrs
Quote
Every important part of life is going digital.

Work --> from factories to laptops. boardrooms to zooms.

Friends --> from neighbors to followers. Where do you find like minded people? Twitter. Reddit. etc.

Games --> more kids play fortnite than basketball & football combined.
Quote
Identity --> filters are the new makeup. Stories are your personal billboard to broadcast who you are.

What matters more. What you look like in real life? or what you look like on instagram?

The pic on the left is what they see, so it's what matters.

Quote
Everything goes digital. Your friends, your job, your identity.

And now with crypto, your assets are online too.

Bored Apes are the new Rolex.

Fortnite skins are the new skinny jeans.

If everyone hangs out online all the time, then your flexes need to be digital.
Quote
So if you play this forward another 10-20 years - we will cross into the metaverse

The moment in time where digital matters more to us than physical.

Our attention used to be 99% on our phsysical environment.

TVs dropped that to 85%
Computers down to 70%
Phones.. 50%
Quote
our attention has been sucked from physical to digital.

And where attention goes, energy flows.

If 50% of our attention is on our digital screen, then 50% of our energy will go to our digital life.

Today it takes some effort to take our phone out of pocket and look at it.
Quote
Soon, some company will make smart glasses that sit in front of our eyes all day.

We will go from 50% attention on screens to ~90%+

That's the moment in time when the metaverse starts.
Because at that moment, our virtual life will become more important than our real life.
Quote
Is this a good or a bad thing?

Like anything, it's neither good nor bad. It's just a thing.

A very different thing.

I Wonder why Porn needs to be Advertised.
It's like Cocaine, sniffers will always find it, no matter what.
I read somewhere, 50% of All Data on the Internet is Porn.
I find that hard to believe.
I agree there might be Alot...but nope! Half of the stuff online is hump pump...lol not true.

SideNote - Most pornography sites are filled with trojans & viruses & keyloggers...Please be Cautious as No System is Safe!
✌️
& Also...that dumb ointment/cream/pill that can ElonGate your Penis...is a Huge Scam.
(lol no, i didn't learn that the hard way, I'm blessed with common sense)

I Login thru Mobile.
ADs used to block the Login boxes.
But i just tilted the phone 90° & then back, & ADs would shift to the corners of the Login Screen.
👍

Would it Not be Good for the Environment, if WE all went into META?
🤔

Ps - MODS, Please Think, & Rethink on adding a phone/mobile verification link for Logging in or Registering.
I'm Quite Sure, most Registered Users would Welcome it & Not oppose it.
(Hard Luck H)

Unless the Commodity in Supply is Limited...& The demand for it Unlimited.

Anyways, back to the Topic!

If Everyone willingly chooses to be part of META...
Will that not contribute in favor of the Climate & Environment crises?

Some people have a life and actual friends, others subscribe to antisocial media. Who (apart  from bad journalists) gives a toss?

Simply put, Facebook's Metaverse is a tightly interconnected set of digital spaces that lets users escape into a virtual world and the rules of technology are the only limit..28, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook status here
here
was changing its name to Meta to reflect its new focus on building the metaverse: a vast, immersive online realm that would encompass entire digital societies and economies. Facebook — that is, Meta — envisions its Oculus virtual reality headsets as a portal to that realm,

The whole Facebook turning into Meta thing is mind-boggling, right? Exciting possibilities, but also, it's like diving into the unknown! And I get the need for some lively discussion ? a few trolls might spice things up a bit!

The true figure may be higher. The demand for high bandwidth and optimum image compression has been driven by the porn industry in the last 20 years.

Seems to be on a par with Jeff bezos space adventures, Elon musk and the hyperloop, Richard branson and the balloons,  deep sea exploration, get rich by accident, have no idea how you got there and have no idea what to do next.
