Yes.

The same could be said for watching streaming video, gardening, and (less often) going to work.

Yes, boredom certainly plays a huge role in obesity. I even noticed on my own that when I sit without work for several days, I want to eat more and, most importantly, I have absolutely healthy food.

Definitely yes. When I have nothing to do, I eat. Eating makes me feel better or something.
