How do you celebrate the minor holidays?
« on: 05/05/2023 20:55:25 »
It seems there have been excuses to show one's inner nerd by jumping into several important events with at least a choice of food. For instance, we'd not miss serving nothing but round things on Pi day (Mar 14), or spritzing water on the wife for Dyngus day (last 10th), albeit not exactly a meal plan.

So yesterday (May the 4th) we had barbecue Beru, alien eggs (Brussels sprouts cut in quarters partway), sweet potatoes piled in the serving bowl in 'this means something' style, and blue yogurt for the Trekkies.
Today is more mundane with Taco Tuesday served on a Thursday.
Tomorrow will be a Chuck roast with a side of corrotini-tion. Still looking for at least one more suggestion.

Imagine what we get on Apr 1 each year!

Hi.

It was a good effort to engage with people and acknowledge the Kings coronation in the UK.   Thanks @Halc .
Sadly my own activities and celebrations are just not quite as impressive as yours or worth commenting on.
I played a board game called "Catan" with my sons and we purchased some quality sandwiches to eat.  The game lasted nearly 2 hours but ultimately I lost the game again.  One of my sons has been playing online and listening to podcasts about the strategy for the game.   So he's just undefeatable these days.  I need a new carpet since he's seriously wearing it down when he does his victory dance down the corridor.
We also watched some of the Coronation.

Best Wishes.

Coronation chicken was a stroke of genius, created by a chef, that has lasted for 70 years as a mainstay of sandwiches and salads. A brilliant concoction of the tastes of the Commonwealth.

Sadly, our new monarch got off to a bad start by recommending quiche (a flabby attempt by our historic enemies to undermine traditional egg and bacon pie, and presumably endorsed by one of his underweight wives) filled with broad beans, which are out of season. Thus offending vegans, carnivores, ecofascists and epicures all at once.

So the ceremonial sandwiches here were smoked salmon, washed down with Pimms, followed by haggis and whisky in the evening.

God Save the King from woke food.

A language without proper punctuation.
