If given the opportunity with ALL expenses paid, would you climb Mount Everest?

After reading a sad news article about a Himalayan tahr that went missing during its ascent on Mount Everest, I got to thinking why anyone would give their life savings to partake in deadly, painful mountain climbing.

Not me, I'm way too old. Even in my youth when I did many crazy things I doubt this would have appealed to me.

Not really, far too much effort/money for a singular objective. I would more likely go in for a "walk the length of the Andes" type challenge.

Only a fool would climb 29,000 feet upwards over snow and ice when a balloon or a plane can take you over the top in comfort.
