LED LIGHT BULBS

I was interested to hear you on the radio this week (1st December) especially concerning LED light bulbs which use even less electricity than the low wattage ones which have been become popular lately.
Are these LED bulbs available now? If so could you give any indication of which retailers might sell them?
I have been using low wattage light bulbs lately and I am impressed with how long they last - much longer than the old style filament bulbs.

Hi Lynda
LEDs are very much in use these days in a variety of places including traffic lights and even night clubs - a Korean company have invented a disco LED light which contains a cluster of coloured LEDs which change colour with the music. The idea behind the invention is that as LEDs produce only a fraction of the heat produced by standard light bulbs, this invention will help to keep clubbers looking and feeling cool in future. But at about £30 a pop they're unlikely to become a household item quite yet.
They're not

yet, but it's coming. Watch this space.
Thanks for your interest, and I hope you enjoyed the show.
Chris

You can buy LED night lights from B&Q now, they are 2-3 times as bright as one of the LED torches/bike lights and are an efficient way of lighting a landing at night if you have children/ can't remember where you put the stairs. I haven't seen light bulb sized ones, for sensible amounts of money at least.

How about a free sample for every member.. ?
Can I be cheeky and ask for enough free samples so that I can make my house look like what those krazy americans do at Christmas time ?
Thanks

Hello Lynda,
LED are becoming more and more powerfull each day and will replace most forms of lighting.
The best application for LED is spotlighting (GU10,MR16,MR11,R50/63/80,Par20/30/38)
Prices for the better stuff is also coming down
the list of bulbs below are some of the best in the market and produces much more light then the older cheaper
MR16/GU5.3 50mm low voltage Reflector
10034 1 x 3watt LED Hi Power MR16 30,000 hours Avg Life £14.99
10035 3 x 1watt LED Hi Power MR16 30,000 hours Avg Life £19.99
10036 1 x 5watt LED Hi Power MR16 30,000 hours Avg Life £26.99
10040 Supreme 21 Cluster MR16 50,000 hours Avg Life £8.99
GU10 50mm Mains Voltage Reflector
10037 1 x 3watt LED Hi Power GU10 30,000 hours Avg Life £14.99
10038 3 x 1watt LED Hi Power GU10 30,000 hours Avg Life £19.99
10039 3 x 1.6watt (5w) LED Hi Power GU10 30,000 hours Avg Life £29.99
10055 Supreme 21 Cluster GU10 50,000 hours Avg Life £8.99
Low voltage bulbs normally needs LED drivers not a low voltage transformer but the bulbs listed above will work on the normal transformer but will reduce the life.
