    Hi Paul

we decided to give Science Update, from the AAAS, a rest for a bit, just to keep things fresh. Hopefully we'll get the guys back for Christmas.

    Hi Chris,

No problems, when you get past 30 any form of change is hazardous and leaves you at a loss.

yes it is, i can watch the webcam on my phone now. Unfortunately i can not use the bbc radio player though, so once again it's a waiting game for the podcast.
I am usually travelling on sunday evenings, so it's mainly the podcast for me.

Out of interest, is there any kind of live streaming you could listen to from your phone? - Although it would probably involve so much bandwidth you wouldn't want to!

    Hi Dave,
The problem is that my present phone does not have windows mobile, if it did then i could also get the live stream. Also, for some reason nokia used an old version of the symbian os and not a new version. With the later version there is a compatable real player, which would work for the stream.

I can get streaming radio stations, but they have to be 100% mp3 streams, mainly us stations...

The TNS website on the opera browser looks just like it does on the PC, although some phone models do struggle with providing "real internet". I will have to show you at the next CHaOS tour

when this contract is up, i will either get a phone with windows installed or an iphone, i should then be able to get live streams on demand.

Bandwidth is not actually an issue as i have unlimited, plus the opera browser "has the technology" to make even the longest page only 50k, anyway, for a change i was back home just in time to catch the whole show.

Cool, we were thinking of setting up a stream for something else, which may be mp3, but don't hold your breath.

Making the website more phone friendly is probably something I should look into soon as well. The problem is that I have a phone which is a phone, and an SMS client, and possiblt an alarm clock... It has a great battery life though and seems to have a longer range than most of the more shiny phones - oh and it was 20 quid... So I not really used to the concept of using a mobile internet, so the site isn't really optimised for it.

    Although if these guys' projector:
    http://www.lightblueoptics.com/
ever makes it into a phone it might be more like it...
