Dear Bjork and Other Peeps Who Know Frozen Stuff !

Nice eh ?

If I took this can and stuck it in the freezer and then the next day took it out and waited for it to de-frost...would it still be home to fizzy luff and joy ? (please note: for the sake of the question I am forgoing any expansion of freezy fizzy pop that breaks the seal)

As a firm believer in empirical study I would love to try this but alas the Fizzy Pop fairies have flown off with my last can !...blast them !!....and I had my fly swatter ready too !!

Do ewe know the answer ?.....cos guess what ?..I don't !!...I really really do not know !

Absolutely, so long as you don't rupture the can by freezing it. This means that when it thaws the contents are still under pressure and this ensures that the CO2 (the fizz) remains dissolved in the liquid.

I've never had the inclination to do this but I'm told that if you put a non-glass container full of wine into a freezer then the alcohol will separate and collect in a slushy puddle.

The result is the same as distilling but without attracting the attention of HM Customs and Excise as there is no still.

Personally, I don't think it will work - but I'm prepared to believe anyone who knows better.

i accidentally tried this just yesterday. i had very fizzy pepsi flavored ice cubes!

Don't kid yourself; HMRC are perfectly happy to prosecute for any method of concentrating alcohol.

On the other hand, it works, it's less likely to catch fire than a still and it doesn't make such a smell so HMRC are less likely to find out about it. However, it doesn't produce as pure a product.

Nice ice cubes, no noticeable separation. For the sake of thoroughness, also tried with baileys & with vodka mixed with smoothie. All in the days when I could consume such things without heartburn.  []

I can also confirm that the fizzy can stays fizzy. Thanks for the reminder - I'm doing fizzy experiments with my daughters at the moment, I shall add this one!
