Look up on Wikipedia: Linear Motor and Maglev.

Essentially, it is like an electric motor rolled out onto an infinite track, with alternating N/S poles.  By synchronizing the N/S poles in the train with those on the track, one can create magnetic levitation, as well as provide propulsion.  It would also be reasonably robust to keep the train from bouncing too high, or low, or bouncing clear off the track.

im making a maglev flight 2.0 right now.
btw, just google maglev or youtube maglev and there's plenty to be found.
