Is this geological feature a meteor crater in Mongolia?

Bayarjavkhlan wrote in with this:

I have found circular shaped geological formation from southern part of Mongolia which seems like crater from meteorite for me. Its radius is 15km which could be considered as one the biggest craters in the world but I could not find any information about it from Google. Thus, I am bit confused. Is there any other way to have such a big circular shaped formation?

It's possible - there are plenty of them - but it's hard to tell from the images much about the relief. Such a feature could also be a lake bed in a natural depression. But you should wait to hear from the real geologists on here before taking my word for it!

There seems to be a mine next to it so there will be geologists "on the ground".
Whether or not their reports will ever have been uploaded to the net is another matter.
