I have a dell B260dn which takes an M11X toner cartridge. Since new/refurbished cartridges are expensive I bought toner and put some in. IT still reads empty. I heard that there's a chip inside which prevents se when refilled but I also learned that there's a device to deactivate it. Any help in finding such a device is extremely welcome!

Come on people. There has to be at least one person here who either knows how to do this or can find out how yo easily enough. Every time I try I get a website tell me how to replace the toner cartridge. Duh!

An interesting problem there must be something in the printer electronics that interrogates something on the cartridge and finding it empty or more likely just finds no printing is taking place and blames it on the cartridge which shuts down printing attempts with the error message empty cartridge until a commercially filled cartridge is put in that somehow resets it.
I would like to put your home filled cartridge in a working printer which would show from whence the shut down instruction is coming  but beware you might end up with two non working printers !
Does the cartridge have one of transparent spiral things stuck on it that supermarkets use to stop you sneaking a bottle of whisky out they are deactivated by a strong pulse that burns out a diode ?.
Does your printer have a battery in the electronics to retain the memory that it has sent out an empty cartridge warning and has not been reset.
does it have a small plug in 8 leg chip like motherboards have that could be replaced.
lots of things to try I would like to get my hands on it I hate anti piracy devices and suchlike.
See if you can borrow a working cartridge and put that in it might reset it.
