Are you asking about veins, or arteries, or both? Because plaques don't happen in veins, and DVTs are exclusive to veins, as the name suggests.
I have seen some techniques used to reduce the chance of thombosis forming in patients who are stationary for a long time:- Pressure stockings, to avoid clots forming in the legs- A bed with multiple air bags, which have their pressure slowly increased and decreased over time, to avoid pressure points, bed sores and thrombosis.And anti-coagulants (not recommended around the time of surgery!).
