Generally speaking,it would take 15 working days for the data to be fully covered.

And how do you work that one out?

I have done this before.
It takes about 15 to 20 days for the data to completely disappear from phone.

I think you are doing something wrong; to overwrite the data does not take that long; are you certain that the data you're talking about what not being sourced from elsewhere, like a cloud backup or equivalent? Most devices cache-up the sync'd data.

Does one really need to erase the last scrap of data on the phone to the degree that worlds best forensic labs will be unable to recover it.
If you have lots of kiddy porn or details of your fellow conspirators it is best to destroy it but if you are just passing it to the children just to download pop music why worry.
I found a G5 dumped in my garden and simply wiped it and use it I suppose I should worry in case it falls into the hands of the thought police and they find reason to prosecute me but you can't worry about everything

Naughty Naughty

I browsed thru the various files it contained but could not find anything to identify the erstwhile owner , also have a mobile GPs machine that was found in a car bought at auction perhaps one day the American police will catch-up with me and prosecute me for using that

Does a factory restart not suffice? I think that wipes everything and reinstalls the OS from an immutable solid-state copy, so you get back a "clean" device. You can also remove the SD card and do a wipe on that using your laptop. That should be adequate to ensure that no data is given away with the device.

When you dispose of the device you'll also be removing the sim of course, which is the only other storage on there.

I would use either sulfuric acid or muratic acid and just buy a new one.

Basically, almost every user will suggest you to do factory reset to wipe away your Android phone. But do you think that factory reset is the best option to delete your phone's data? No, its not because even after factory reset, you can still recover the deleted files.
So there is no such guarantee to wipe Android data permanently via factory reset. So I would simply suggest you to use Android Data Eraser, a professional tool that works effectively to delete data from Android phone permanently.
