Rabies is a pretty gruesome disease to die from, and depending on the circumstances, it can progress from initial infection to death in 2-3 months. The time can vary greatly, though. I once read that in one case the time between infection and symptoms was 19 years, although I don't know how they could connect the disease to some event 19 years prior.
