Why Do Manx Cats Have Little or NO Tail ?

Dear Cat 'o' Nine tail users !! [;)]

See this cat ?

Nice eh ?...notice anything missing ?

That's right it has no Ipod !....additionally though it has no tail !

Aren't tails prerequisite for cats to enable them to do cat things like balancing and stuff ?

So, how come the Manx has no tail?

Tell me will ya ?

The reason for Manx Cats to have no tails is an old Genetic Mutation thing
and it has been said that it goes back 300 years or more.
But if the Manx kittens have two X genes then the mother cat
will abort them.

Rosalind Franklin was my first cousin and one my life's main regrets is that I never met this brilliant and beautiful lady.
She discovered the Single DNA Helix in 1953, then it was taken by Wilkins without her knowledge or agreeement.

Indeed. The Savanna breed of cat is obtained by breeding a serval with a domestic cat.

You're very welcome, neilep

By the way - the Savanna cat was not bred from domestic cats crossed with LARGER cats like Tigers, Lions or the like, but with an African serval, which is 'only' about 53 cm high:

http://www.savannah-cats.net/about-savannahs.htm

(and they're not a 'breed' yet, apparently)
