Atrox that is a really good start. You should join in on the "Just Chat" thread.

Of course I do, Paul. The only reason why I spent my Time there.. and I bet you know what I ment with "work in a hostel"  [;)] [;D]
But it was somehow a pretty strange feeling to see some place in the city where I used to be everey day... felt a bit like a soft trace of homesickness..

But to be honest: Me and my friends and colleagues had some very creepy moments there, too.
...there was this moment, when I was standing at a busstopp and sudenly a girl standing next to me began to sream an reached for her eye. Some idiots had thrown an egg out of a driving car and it hit her eye.
Or the moment my colleague came home one evening with a new scar at his forehead...some idiots gave him a headbut out of the blue, only because he was there. They didn´t even speak to him.
Or some really stupid people... realising I came from Germany, they got aggressive, called me Hitler and such things... fortunately there were only a very small number of them...but the first time I got such an reaction, I was really really shocked!
I think, if I had know before, how dangerous Liverpool can be, I would have chosen another city to stay (ok...now I´m completely confused about the right tenses..)

@Make it Lady: Ok, I will have a look at this thread ;)

atrox - the word is "drunken" not "trunken". "Trunken" is what German elephants have  [:D]

Ich weiß den.

Where in Germany do you live? I was in München for a year and later worked a lot in Frankfurt (actually Maintal just east of Frankfurt).

At the moment I live in Göttingen...near Frankfurt/Main in the very center of Germany. But I will move by the end of summer in late september... but I´m not sure in which city yet. Could be Greifswald at the Baltic Sea in the east of Germany, or Münster/Westfalen in the western area (I think thats also the Münster, Paul was speaking of...when you just say Münster, its usually this one...like its usually Frankfurt am Main when you just say Frankfurt). I used to live in Münster before, but only for a few month. Nice city...but I would love to live at the sea ;)
But originally I come from Leipzig, and I love it... so I´m a ´bit sorry, that I´m not able to live there, and maybe never will be. But it´s hard to find a Job there... these days you have to move a lot to make your way .. but thats also ok for me, I love to see new places..

Yes, I did mean Frankfurt-am-Main.

There's a very famous university at Göttingen - Georg-August. Some of the biggest names in science have studied or taught there:-

Max Born
Max Planck
J Robert Oppenheimer
Carl Friedrich Gauss
Johann Dirichlet

to name but a few.

I also believe that Otto von Bismark studied there.

By the way, did you know that it was King George II of England who ordered the university to be established?
