The wind wasn't even from a direction that would enable the scenario you describe. Going over the Signal Corps wind data it was blowing towards the enemy form a position marked as:
 
"DANGER! - CASTOR HABITAT
BEWARE OF THE STENCH"

Freddy tells me they have created lots of Beaver monsters on Pokemon. One type can chew through stone with their beaver like teeth.
