Endozoochory is generally a coevolved mutualistic relationship in which a plant surrounds seeds with an edible, nutritious fruit as a reward to animals that consume it. Seeds within the fruit are often protected by tough outer coating; many seeds have such thick protection that they cannot germinate until they are scarified by digestion. This keeps the seed from sprouting while still in the fruit and reduces competition with the parent plant.
LOL LOL.. Well I have never thought about that! Perhaps the center is like the inside of the uterus protecting its babies (or seeds) and after deterioration or opening and removal The seeds are then ready to reproduce Ideally perhaps in the soil where the plant had fruited! The melon would probably take months to decompose. Then by the time it had decomposed in the center, the seeds would then have a good foothold of enriched soil to then start regrowing in the ground for the next season.. What do you think? Is that possible...
