Why Did Intelligent/Sentient Life Like Us Develop On Dry Land ?
« on: 08/12/2008 15:01:00 »
Dear All,

As a sheepy I am of course intelligent. I go to the loo and wipe my bum. I also wee-wee in the sink , this is indeed a sign of intelligence of the highest order!

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

Being that Life began in the sea, and that the sea is well big, why do ewe think , intelligent life , such as ewe and I, developed on the land ?

..Is dry land prerequisite for Intelligence/sentient life such as us ?

Whajafink ?

Hugs & Shmishes

Dolphins beat Caxton to the printing press by almost a 1000 years, trouble is waterproof ink hadn't been invented so they dropped the idea.

Yup - fire must have been a huge factor.  There's also the process of drying to consider - as many things dry their properties can change, giving more scope for their wider range of usage to become apparent.  It seems to me that there are more opportunities for the process of reason/deduction to occur, and lead to intelligence, on land than in water.

Turn that siren off! (Did you see what I did there?)

This is what "mermaids" really are.......

It's clear to me which one I prefer though.....

By weight brains are have a very high oxygen requirement.
Proportion of O2 in air 1:5, proportion of O2 in water 1:80000.
This is why land animals can be much more intelligent than fish.

Are you implying that wombats are more intelligent than octopuses? (OK, octopuses aren't fish; but they live underwater)

i.e. the most intelligent creatures on Earth have lungs, (but not all creatures who have lungs are intelligent).

It accounts for how the few mammals which have returned to the water are so good at catching fish! (Applies to penguins, too).

Just as a point of interest - if a fish's memory is so bad, how does it remember what predators are?

Mermaids don't have anywhere to keep their purses: they're always losing them ...
