Does ghost exist ? If it exist how can we explain in terms  of laws of physics ?

I watched a program  in Discovery Channel called a haunting ... In it people talk about ghost  ... troubled them a lot in number of ways like

1. lifting them or  levitating a person ... [???]
2. pushing a person ? etc.. stuff like that .. and they say they can walk through the walls ?? it sounds like a Higher dimensional creatures ??

Plz does any one can explain ? this is serious matter !!?? [???]

There is no scientific evidence that ghosts exist. Some religions may suggest them.

I agree with you; it is serious [:)] Belief systems probably cause more suffering than just about anything.

I think ghosts exist only in analog TV, not in digital.  They are caused by reflections and yes, they can pass through (non-conductive) walls.

Ummm... Can you elaborate more? I can't quite comprehend it...

Previous poster is refering to a double image seen on tv screens. The radio signal from the transmitter can be reflected from nearby buildings etc so that the reflected signal reaches the receiving antenna slightly delayed relative to the direct signal, due to its longer path length.
What you see on the screen is the main image with a feint copy slightly offset. It’s called ghosting.
Digital is fairly immune to this.

I think that ghosts exist inasmuch as the see or otherwise perceive them that said I am certain they have no existence outside ourselves and are only a spurious stimulation of our senses.

Our sensory systems react to external stimulus and fire, like little neurons. These translated sensory firing signals, then go into the brain, where they impact the cerebral matter and core regions of the brain. Although this is the normal path, there is no rule that says the cerebral matter, cannot be induced in a way similar a sensory input, but with the entire affect beginning and ending inside the brain.

Dreams are a good example of this. In dreams were are asleep and our eyes are closed. Even with the eyes closed, we can see dreamscapes that appear to stem from our eyes. This is being generated from within.

If this internal induction happens while we are awake and the sensory systems are also gathering input data for the cerebral, we can form a composite affect; countercurrent and additive flow of two streams. The internal induction is weaker than the external induction, but both can be conscious; vague silhouette superimposed upon a stronger sensory landscape.

As a real life example, I know an elderly person in their 90"s who periodically has episodes where he hears music that is not there, for me to hear. The music is not frequent, but usually occurs close to his bed time, while he getting tired but still awake. The music is tends to be associated to memories from the past, due to the songs he hears. I tell him to figure out the song, and it will stop, which it does. Ghosts may work the same way, and can be made to stop, if we figure what the induction means; basis for unconscious potential. Or more interestingly, they can be induced to extrapolate using the unconscious potential; active ghost.

What you need to find ghosts is an inaccurate understanding of energy. So you can say things like "There is a dark energy in this room." Also a pre-programmable device that can utter phrases out of the background white noise at the appropriate times. You ask "who is there." and the device replies "ghosts." The best method of all is to have a tape recorder that can capture ghostly voices. You ask "who you gonna call?" and when you listen to the playback later you hear "ghost busters."

I wish I knew. People claim that no evidence exists only because what observations of them are reported are automatically rejected because people claim they don't exist because there's no evidence of them, etc etc etc.

When I was young (~143yo) I felt a hand on my back and when I turned around nobody was there. There was only me and my brother in the room and I know he didn't do it. That's an example of evidence, i.e. information/observation which is consistent with an hypothesis.

I know how that sounds but one has to keep in mind that there is no way science can ever provide proof of anything because there's always the possibility that a physical phenomena could be explained otherwise. And that's what makes legal evidence something which cannot prove anything.

I am gonna go to the science side. Our thoughts, plus illusions, mental disorders (not all people who see ghosts are mentally disordered!), all these contribute to ghosts. Plus, maybe this is maybe some dirty and scammy business.

I know that Sean Carroll was not talking about ghosts, but this quote does seem to fit reasonably well here.

"The right response is "that's just the way things are." It's up to us as a species to cultivate the intellectual maturity to accept that some questions don't have the kinds of answers that are designed to make us feel satisfied."

I'm already thinking of "infinite" ways to use that quote. :)

    ....................Ghostses !
How's about this !...subconscious telepathy means that many people carry some of the "soul" of a person .  When they pass , much of their greater soul continues to exist subconsciously , in the hearts and minds of those who were close to them .  As with dreams , sub-conscious thoughts sometimes manifest themselves as images .  These we call "ghost sightings" .  Now you knoooow !

Imagine a pink unicorn standing on the deck of the Titanic.
Please tell me what it looks like.
