You could say that there are two faces to a transition, or possibly three. One is what it will cost the taxpayers to clean it up here in our industrialized countries. The fossil companies will not pay it, they will expect you to cover it, and so will your politicians.Those companies will just go into liquidation, or bankruptcy, to then leave the rest to you. The other are the assets, which often are situated in 'developing countries'. They face the same crisis as those 'banana republics', or palm oil states. Those based on one or two products that they sell internationally. It locks that country in.

the third should be the way oil gas etc still gets promoted in your country, and what the effects of a withdrawal will be on your economy and energy spending.

It's easy getting disillusioned. Harder to do something. We can disconnect those people from what needs to be done, democratically.

The question is if we will.

Using my pointy hat I think I can tell you what will happen if we don't disconnect people like this. It will be a increasingly unequal and repressive nation. It will pass a 'boiling point' in where you will find yourself either in a totalitarian state built on terror, or in a civil war. There is also the alternative in where 'blame games' starts a nuclear war.

Neither of those options will lead you out.
