There are some other scenarios I haven't bothered to mention if we continue as usual. As your wallet. If you get a state of small arm wars and migrations (a circle of violence) it will impact both geopolitics and the market. Recession should be inevitable as they say, but what's worse will be it eroding your trust in those financial corporations and banks. As when banks join up internationally offering nations large loans 'guaranteed' by their combined wealth. When those nations find themselves unable to pay back the loans those banks face some possibilities. One is to write it off as a bad investment, the other is to lend that nation just enough money to be able to pay the interest on those loans, thereby presenting them as 'safe' as there still is money coming in. What banks initially grew on was your money, your wages. And the idea is simple, if i get the wages from a thousand people I normally can count on not all of that money being withdrawn at a same time, that gives me a opportunity to play with those money as a bank. I can 'invest' them, if all goes well and I grow I can even promise you a return from my investments. Not all, but some small percentage.

There is one thing that can crash this bubble. Peoples trust in their banks.

If the bubble we have today would crash there will be no more opportunities to make bad loans 'safe' for a bank f.ex. It will also mean that your saving will be diminished. A state may 'guarantee' you money back but that doesn't mean it will have them. There are tricks you can do as a state in those circumstances, as it is the 'legal object' allowed to f.ex print 'new money', but the end result will be a crash anyway.

Paul Erdman is a interesting writer, and a somewhat 'failed' banker :)
He lived by the rules, until he got time to think them over.

Try 'The Crash of '79' which is an oldie, but so are banks.

Another really good book is " The Day the Bubble Burst: A Social History of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 "
That crash changed a lot of practices, at least short time, for banks, and the state.

And I think we're getting close to another. Both books, Erdman's as well as Gordon Thomas and Max Morgan-Witts .. The Day the Bubble Burst ... are thrillers, you won't be disappointed reading them. And Erdman has other books you might like btw.

So yes, allowing the banks to handle your money seems indeed a gamble. And if you dream of a digitized society, as we seem to do in Sweden, this question becomes even more relevant. We're not living in a society based on equality and fairness, we're living where the opposite rules. And every change from it towards something more 'democratic' has been paved with struggles.

Don't make the mistake to think of that in political terms btw, It's just a fact, based on whom we are.

Looked at it this way 'politics' becomes the plaster you put upon a wound. A little like us sending economic help to developing countries at the same time as we introduce technology they can't handle by themselves, those country's being 'cheaper' from a standpoint of costs of mass production, earning a larger profit to the owners, and of course exploit whatever resources they can offer.

Some country's totally miss the plaster, you could call it a measure of 'democracy'.

What then will enable a change? If it's instincts, 'core beliefs' etc that defines us. Well, you can, you can change. To do it you just need some ingredients, education and a willingness to see yourself.

Education because the more you know the harder it will become to fool you.

And the willingness to see yourself enabling you to stop fooling yourself.
That I would say is the hardest part of it. And a constant struggle.

And maybe the most important ingredient.
Be prepared to choose.

To be yourself you could call it. And I don't know which way you prefer. I do know that we contain contradictions though.

I know, I didn't even mention the implications of global warming, pollution, mono farming and seedless seeds, droughts and floods from changing weather patterns etc. But I would say you can add those too.
